I will now only spec into racial Caldari things. They are always the safest, easiest, low risk bet.
I seriously don't know how they can go on and actually acknowledge that vehicles and AV need to be reworked 1.5..... THEN they buff the easiest AV weapon of all in 1.4!?
I need to know who's idea that was. someone forgot about the huge caldari logi nerf 5 high slots lol 3dmg mods proto swarms says otherwise You can 4 piece any swarm suit with a blaster turret, takes less that 2 seconds. If they are running 3 damage mods, that means you can 2 piece them unless they are heavily armored, in which case 3. You can one piece any suit in the game with a railgun. You know Ninjanomyx right? Dunno if I spelled it right, but I'm sure you know who I mean. He'll see this post eventually, he's on the forums ALL the time. Point him to this post, then let HIM tell you how a friend and I bum rushed his tank with proto swarms and AV grenades in an LAV, bailed out and dumped 6 AV grenades into his tank, fired off a total of 5 swarms, and his tank still limped away.
YOU HEAR THAT NINJANOMYX OR HOWEVER YOU SPELL YOUR NAME? TELL THE WORLD how OP proto swarms are when you can be bum rushed by 2 fully loaded AVers and still limp away after getting doused by AV. You'll see this thread eventually, you're all over the forums. Spell it out just how OP proto swarms are when 2 AVers can lay into you full throttle from point blank and you still manage to get away.
Btw, wanna know his secret? Wanna know how he actually got away? He used team work. His buddy hopped out of his tank and laid into us. We have no primary weapons, so he could hit us from a distance while we struggled to get within SMG optimal range. We HAD to focus on his buddy because if we didn't, WE would be the ones loosing money.
And how does the story end? He get's back to his base and recalls his tank, I go to the redline and start firing my swarms at turrets back there waiting for him to call another tank, and Ninjanomyx kills me with an (Dren I think) AR from 50m out before I could ever get into SMG range since, as a swarm user, I have no ranged primary to fight back with. That's the trade off with swarms. We get a weapon that is able to lock on for AV purposes at the price of being the weakest ranged anti-infantry class in the game due to having no ranged AI whatsoever. Every other AV weapon short of AV grenades can be used against infantry, we have to rely on getting close to an enemy to kill them. And since most of us use damage mods, most of us are severely lacking in HP. I use Minmatar suits, so if I ever run damage mods I am pretty much a slow scout suit with no ability to defend myself at range from infantry.
Just as a side note, I give huge props to Ninjanomyx for using a ds3 while running armor tanks instead of cheaping out like 90% of other tankers do and using the kb/m that makes armor tanks move like LAV's, my hat's off to you for that sir.
So call it a crutch all you like, it's a false charge and you know it. We are hampered against infantry in order to gain a slight advantage against vehicles over other AV. And only armor tanks at that, because in less time that is takes to fire off a second swarm a DS can be at the flight ceiling and out of reach and LAV's can get to cover almost just as fast as long as they aren't crossing huge stretches of open terrain. This buff will bring swarms into line with all the other branches of AV, now we just need to either fix the plasma launcher to be a proper AV weapon or re-brand it as the awkward mass driver that it is.
Just remember, for every angry tanker out there mad about the swarm buff, there are 100 happy infantry players out there licking their chops knowing that easy targets are going to be everywhere now. I recommend you hide a couple of them in your tank.
Now then, before things get too ugly, I would like to point out that any AV buff should come with a price reduction to vehicles and their modules/turrets of up to 50% until a proper balance of cost/risk can be assessed and implemented. Because even though I think this buff actually evens out the swarms, that doesn't mean that the amount of cash a tanker has to put out to maintain their effectiveness should increase too drastically.
And with that, I'm calling it a day. I really don't feel like arguing this crap with you AGAIN. I can only handle so much whining on a topic before I just start posting and then ignoring the topic, and I'm at that point right now. Have fun calling everything you don't like a "crutch". |
