The way I see the MCC currently, is that it is a place that you sometimes spawn at at the start of the match.
I think it would benefit gameplay and the whole dropsuit trooper experience if CCP makes these changes to add more focus on dropping into the battlefield.
Have the MCC randomly wonder around the battle field, with course suggestions made by whoever is inside or a battlefield leader.
Add a hanger where people could safetly spawn dropships. Drop ships inside the MCC will act like they have a CRU in them while inside the hanger to incourage people to use dropships as drop ships, and deploy fully loaded ships directly onto a battlefield node. If the team sticks together, they could board the drop ship and go back to the MCC to repair, reammo, and change suits.
Kinetic catapults on the MCC so that lonewolf players that don't care about drop ships will have a reason to spawn at the MCC. Since the MCC would be wandering around, the lonewolf player could spawn there, and shoot out one of the linear catapults and control slightly where he spawns, as to not get instagibbed and have more battlefield control.
These changes to the MCC along with an idea from one of my previous posts on an over haul on inertial dampeners could really put the drop back in dropsuits

Possible module types medium slot
A linear burst after burner for going perfectly straight, gaining lots of momentum, and making it hard to turn till you slow down. Long cooldown.
Short hop jump jet, for dodging murder taxis, jumping up ledges or getting to good vantage points, running away like a coward (especially if some dude with a shotgun is like 2 meters from you and you panic jump and maybe save your dropsuit). Short cooldown.
Slow hover jets with fuel that could get you to hard to get vantage points that would normally require a dropship. Limited fuel so you can't keep moving around, once you get to a vantage point you are stuck at that one till you get more ammo. Also could be used to get the surprise on some fool who thinks he is safe in a whole new way. No cooldown, limited by fuel/ammo
Other idea about fitting afterburners on infantry.
Create a high power slot on infantry. This is where inertial dampeners would go, along with these afterburners. Change the inertial dampeners to be a module just like CCP did with nova knifes. Then add some bonus to inertial dampeners making them more like inertial energy re-purposing devices. Allowing them to convert falling speed and distance into a temporary shield over charge, speed boost, or damage burst. |
