I heard a while back that someone suggested a non-corp/non-team insta battle mode. People then complained that would be a bad idea as it would only split an already small player base, that argument is somewhat illogical. For the way that insta battle works now supposedly drives away players anyway. As it is now, most insta battles place a team of protos with a team of protos then has them fight a bunch of randoms. Those randoms probably have low SP as well, and as this game is mostly a numbers game. The team with the most teams, proto gear and SP in it easily win and wipe out the other team. This process of new players generally without teams, results in that new player getting beaten and annihilated. A lot of those players then just give up and leave the game for good. If you had a non-team/corp insta battle mode then some of the players that would have left, may instead switch to the non-team mode. From there they could play, getting more skill and SP on what should be a more level battlefield. They could then go back to the normal insta battle mode once they are recruited into a proper team or corp. This should also force teams to face teams more instead of mostly randoms, thus resulting in more competitive matches. So this could increase the overall player count by reducing the amount of new players being turned away by a crap match making system. Or you could just fix the match making system so that it puts randoms against randoms, and teams/corps against teams/corps. But I don't see that happenings for a long time. |

Its annoying but some of my posts are overly long. I sometimes try to explain some of the against arguments within the original text, this makes for a long post. Maybe I should work on my 'Text Speak' better, then I could write something like YUF UIGIU TRD, and then people would be like now I get it that's what he meant. I guess it's that or stick with overly long real words. |
