I had this thought about LAVs this fine 4am morning,
What if driving in an LAV locked you into first person mode with no 3rd person view, that way people can still drive around and do whatever they please but it will be a tad bit more challenging.
This also allows a counter to the LAV, if a driver rashly tries to run over a group of red dots and eventually crashes headlong into the wall keeping him still enough (and without turning his head for situational awareness) allowing the red dots to fire upon his head and murder him.
I think it will allow for LAVs to still be used as a viable "murder taxi" style vehicle but requiring much more skill to survive engagement after engagement. It will also allow for a much easily attained counter of shooting out less aware drivers
Although this would be an issue when identifying swarm launchers or forge guns but perhaps CCP can include a "free" view 1st person driving mode allowing for better situational awareness.

Murder taxi is mostly fixed now, actually. The only problem is the LLAV. It has an EHP like a tank, but speeds around like a lav. It needs a nerf, and it needs it months ago. |

Hey there. Appreciate the idea, but the poster above is pretty much spot on. the LLAV's are just unstoppable, and they stick out like a sore thumb, I don't understand why they haven't been fixed and have lasted so many patch cycles without any rebalancing... but they are harder to kill than HAV's... even with proto grenades I believe you need about 4 hits? Really upsetting to see them continue this way. Here's hoping 1.4 will have something for them... |

Thanks for the replies.
Well my ideas are mostly to try and do a quick balance fix for these infamous LLAVs, if you can't blow them up the next best counter is to kill the driver and take the vehicle, which can then be re-purposed to aid allied tanks or infantry with the rep tool (but lets be honest it'll end up being just another murder taxi but on our side instead, but thats a whole different problem altogether).
Locking LAV users in 1st person will make it easier for ground troops to take out LAV drivers who get too close or are standing too still to look around from the driver seat, while also making the act of murder taxi-ing a more challenging endeavor without the help of an overhead 3rd person view. |

Today a LLAV survived four volleys from my prototype swarm launcher. HAVs generally don't do that, so, uhm, I think there's a problem with the ehp here mostly. |

LLAV's need to be removed from the game until CCP can figure out how to balance them. There is no reason for them to be as strong as they are, as fast as they are, and carry that much resistance.
Earlier today I had a guy with a forge gun who would hop out, release shots, and as soon as he started taking fire, hop back in the LLAV to protect himself.
At least when there was the blaster "glitch" LLAVs could be dealt with, but in fixing that, CCP returned them to unstoppable.
Maybe they should just give them large turrets and remove tanks. |

Hopefully with the upcoming 1.4 collision changes we will see a drop in murder taxis. The logi lav isn't the problem it's the Charybdis with a lack of anti-shield av weapons(all av in the game presently does 30%less damage to the chary if I'm not mistaken) |

Most LAVS now will blow up with one hit from a standard AV Grenade. Logi LAVs, however, are still broken in the sense that when you skill into them, you get 40% shield/armor resistance instead of only 2%. This is why Logi LAVs are so difficult to kill.
When you START with 40% resistance, then add in a passive resist mod, or even an active hardener, you can essentially turn a forge gun into a bubble wand. |

We all know LLAVs are extremely unbalanced right now which is why im brain storming and proposing ideas for fixes, it'd be great to hear some feedback or ideas of your own. We cant fix the issue by whining about it constantly, lets be constructive and explore ideas.
EHP wouldn't be so much of a problem if it would be easier to kill the drivers like my idea outlines.
what other fixes would you guys suggest? |

The good news is they get paid to do it. That is an assumption on my part, admittedly.
Technically you paid to do it. Which is interesting but true as you paid with either cash, time or lost sleep.
Dedication at its best. |

Yes I am well aware that the dev blog has released information about the murder taxi fix, I just have to wait and see I guess. Regardless I think locking vehicle controls to a 1st person view will bring in a good balance of murder taxi and lav use with the addition of driving and situational awareness skills |

You start out with 30%...... They just need to decrease the acceleration by say 25%, and the speed by 25%. It needs the tank for staying power. And they still haven't fixed the fact that getting wp with it without murder taxing is horrible.
Oh wait, I forgot, scrub Assaulters want to be able to one-shot vehicles and they think we get them for free. Never mind.
