Currently the only way to know if someone has typed something in team/squad chat mid battle is to run off into a safe corner and pull it up to check.
A few weeks ago I began playing League of Legends (it was the only game the computer I had could run (I just got a new one today), I had, on average, about 8 frames per second on low graphics)
When I played that I noticed the text chat was a lot easier to use than in Dust (for obvious reasons) but also because when someone typed into it, their message would appear on screen for a little bit, then go away. On Dust, you only see new messages if you check the chat.
If it was changed to show the messages in team and squad chat appear at the side of the screen for awhile more people would communicate because now they know everyone will see it, and not just when their waiting to respawn and have nothing better to do.
Typing in "tanks coming around behind us!" doesn't help if the team doesn't see it till they've already died. |

I really like this idea considering that i am unable to use a mic. there are times when i find myself with valuable info that is time sensitive on the field like hey don't hack that *in general Ackbar's voice* "IT"S A TRAP!" |

Good idea there.
I suppose you could open chat and select "Block Text" or "Show Text" for the different chats so that you don't get distracted by other chats or if you only care to see what you squad is saying and would rather ignore the rest of the team.

it would be awesome so i wouldnt have to shoot my team mate to get there attention and hope that they understand look a sniper in the red line!....... dammit i tried to tell you but nooooo you didnt want to listen to me |
