I press this as a series of posts.
Say 5 warpoints for hitting an enemy in any way - can be earned up to once per minute.
5 warpoints for removing their shield - can be earned up to once per minute.
Get a kill - it puts a minutes pause on the refresh timers for the above (ie, its for people who aren't getting kills)
Or make it 2 points each - at worst then in a 15 minute match that'd be 60 more war points. Hardly anything.
Heck, I can get 13 WP just for making a half circle go around (ie, be the third person in a hack). Why can't anyone get points for actually attacking people but not making (or their side not making) their HP circle go all the way around to zero?
There should be something in between getting nothing and a kill beyond simply the kill assist bonus. Indeed the kill assist already shows the idea of having a middle ground.
Even when I gun down the other guy (often with a group of blues hot on my heels anyway), some of them maned up and actually turned to fight - they hit me atleast once or even shredded my shield, they should get something for maning up. Rather than just getting a worse K/D ratio and having to pay for a suit.
I would say the game is more fun if I could atleast say to myself 'hey, they hosed me, but atleast I slapped them for a point or two'
Otherwise at times it just seems a game of organised bullying. As addictive as bullying (and wanting to become the bully) is, it's really a pretty sick culture (even if it does make money). Seeing some guy who I knew wasn't commited to turning and fighting me, but tried anyway and I gunned him down after he gets a few scrapes in on me - oh yeah, I totally feel the big man for him getting nothing for atleast trying. Sure. More like I feel like someone who doesn't want to encourage anyone else to game but me. |

Points are always a motivator. If you got 500 points for even hitting a target, I'm sure you'd agree it would be motivating. From there it's simply a matter of scale - sure, 5 would be less motivation than 500, but it's still an amount of motivation. If 50 points for a kill is motivating, why wouldn't 1/10th of that have some similar ratio of motivation as well?
You'd want to come from being killed with nothing, rather than atleast five or ten points for atleast fighting back? I'm not sure why anyone would choose that? |
