This thread related to the Mass Driver. I'm not going to comment on whether or not I think it's balanced - just kidding they should be closer to the assault variant with low damage but huge explosive radius so they can be used as a support weapon - that's not the point though.
When I get shot at with mass drivers, be it EXO-5 or Freedom, I have 3 shots until I'm dead. I have 450 armor 150 shields. 3 shots is not a lot of time, I'm gonna say maybe 3 seconds, maybe a few seconds longer if they're incompetent. In this time, I have to identify my target and react accordingly. I need to get behind cover or shoot back - fight or flight. Sounds simple.
But, wait a second, it f*cking isn't. When a Mass Driver round explodes near me, you know what I get? Hit markers in every direction. I get a red circle that basically tells me, "idk guess you're screwed m8 lmfao." I find this to be... problematic. I find it hard to imagine that 60,000 years, maybe more, from present day with advanced suits and technology - shield systems, armor plates, hardwiring that lets you fire weapons that would kill an ordinary human, people can't GOD DAMN TELL WHERE THE HELL THE PERSON WHO SHOT THAT DAMN EXPLOSIVE ROUND IS.
Please, for the love of god, I don't even need you to take off damage, I don't need you to buff anything, I'm not calling for a nerf...
Just please let me know which way to god damn run when someone is using a weapon that 3 shots me. I want a marker that points to who shot the explosive, or at least something that points to where the explosion came from, not a spastic red alert hit marker that only informs me that I am going to die. I get an arrow when I get shot with weapons more powerful than it, I get hit markers from weapons weaker than it, but I think CCP fails to realize that the Mass Driver is not a melee weapon. I do not instantly know who shot me. They could be above me, they could be below me, they could be behind me, they could be to the left or right. I have to check EVERY DIRECTION (270 degrees in 3 dimensions) in 3 seconds PLUS get to cover. That is ridiculous and an idiotic request to give someone who armor tanks.
Even if you do not have this problem, you must at least admit it would be a logical addition. I'm tired of dying because people who use mass drivers are invisible unless they are in my sights before they fire or if they are right next to me.
Checking the map doesn't always work either. I shouldn't need a teammate to spot and tell me where a mid range enemy is. You don't need a damn spotter for people who use ARs so you shouldn't need one for MDs. Just imagine what this game would be like if laser rifles, scrambler rifles, or ARs didn't have hit markers that pointed to the target and instead just spammed you with red circles.
I understand it is an explosive so hit markers that point to the source of the shot may be illogical, but it is a POWERFUL explosive if the person is fitted right. I'm not asking for the same concept to be applied to forge guns. At the very minimum, let me know where the explosion itself came from.
I don't think this request is unreasonable, ridiculous or simply too much to ask.
tl;dr Add hit markers that point to where the person who shot you with an MD is instead of ******** HAL9000 "Prepare to die, friendo :)" hit markers. |

I don't know why I didn't notice it sooner, but I realize that it might actually help with balancing the weapon possibly, who knows? |

I use mass drivers rather often and even I have to say that is is a little unfair that they get a giant red circle every time I land a hit on them. The problem with it is the explosion is (half the time) directly below you; after the explosion occurs, there's damage "technology" and triggers flying all over the place right below you, which adds up to be around that 200something damage the MD deals. I'm sure they could find a way to make it where it shows you where the shot came from, but it may be a little troublesome and probably wouldn't come out until a later patch.
+1 nonetheless, because it does get annoying (plus you had a rather comedic attitude toward it that edged me to keep reading). |

+1 for OP, but the implementation would be problematic. After all, a MD could shoot in front of you, and the hit warning would appear in front of you, since that's where the damage came from. |

I know it would seem logical that the damage would fry your sensors, but it is also logical that when they designed the cybernetics of the suit they would install software that could interpret the explosion and angle correctly and hypothesize where the MD user is. |
