The fact that how far you're able to "see" is tied to what you have equipped is silly. While it does make snipers potentially more valuable as they'd have the greatest sight distance, it neither makes sense nor is it fun to play with.
Does a merc with a different weapon equipped have a different sight optic installed despite being in the same dropsuit?
While I appreciate that the optimization increases frames rates, decreases stuttering, and other various things having to do with playability, I'd also love to be able to spot a sniper (or attempt to spot that speck of his in the distance) while holding an AR so I can let someone else know approximately where he is, or attempt a countersnipe at respawn without the necessity of finding him on that spawn.
I'd also like to be able to see redberries/blueberries and turrets in my tank even if I'm not able to shoot at them/it yet. Or that enemy dropship in the sky that just passed my Large Rail Turret Installation (LRTI) rendering so I can track it and shoot it right when it enters range again, as well as those bodyless chevrons(sometimes not even that) I can definitely hit but aren't rendered.
I'd settle for blocky distance renders.
Tldr - If it's possible do so without causing problems, please untie rendering distance to the weapon currently equipped. If not, please do so when it becomes possible; or at least increase current distances, especially those where the non-rendered object is within range such as LRTIs (and probably Large Missile Turrets too, but I wouldn't know as they seem pretty useless). |

Does it take up a slot? Do you have to swap to it and does that take time? Is it just a "zoom" function installed on the dropsuit and unusable when firing?
It also doesn't help vehicle users and would be a huge inconvenience to turret operators having to jump out to use it before jumping back in. |
