My Bro is specialized and runs proto AR with a Proto medium frame and duel tanks with proto grenades. He's all like, look at my 900 hp!
I'm an omni soldier, so all I have is advanced gear, and I'm all sad while he's laughing at my 700 hp. I go into matches with a pouty face, hop into my advanced lavs with adv blasters shields or missiles, or use my std lavs or tanks with adv blasters and hardners to deal with tanks while he mops up infantry. I might use my ADV LLV to rep his 900 hp medium frame while he breaches the CRU/Supply Depot/C on biomass.
But, at any time, I can reach for my hidden potential, my super secret sauce that is built into the game. I can reach for Aurum and suddenly every single proto or complex item in the game is at my disposal, should I feel like it is needed.
Two paths in dust: Specialize for Free with SP Permanently, or Pay to Specialize with Aurum temporarily. |

It's just an opinion piece. I edited it to show how I believe dusts specialization system rewards people. Specialize for free permanently with skill points over time, or Specialize temporarily with aurum. |

'Try this cool weapon for AUR - it will be terrible compared to actually skilling into it properly but its nice to try'
or
'Wanna see how good the weapon will be when the next skill level unlocks' |

Ok. Well my opinion is I like to specialize with SP, I used to use Aurum to try new things back in chromosome, and I might even do it in the future as well. But if its something I plan on running consistently I feel its better to just skill into it because there are benefits to skilling that you can't get from just purchasing no/lower skilled Aurum items. |

True, a specialist will handle his specialty weapon better than an omni solderi, he will also handle a specialty suit better. The specialist also gets to use officer weapons available in his specialty if he loots them. |

I mean you don't get the passive skills like the heat reduction on the SCR or Laser Rifel when you buy the AUR weapons |

Or just use advanced gear. Sure you could use protogear. But why? Get your supportskills and be done with it. I only run Standard gear at the moment and I'm always in the top 5. |
