Corp battle where if a giant ship, like a dreadnought or mother ship, gets blown up over the planet you fight it out inside the ship looking for tech. You can sell the tech to EVE corps to take time off researching tech by reverse engineering.
Kind of like a CTF |

Kind of like a CTF would be better off fighting inside a almost destroyed ship going to meet with the ground scrambling to escape it. |

I may or may not be on track by what you meant by that post. If it was negative in nature....I can respect that. CCP doesn't have all the time and money in the world, and this is a free to play model. I would point out that such models are so popular because of how they interact with their market and audience. TF2 is one of the biggest games out there, partly due to the acceptance of player contribution through player created content and catering to their communities quirky sense of humor.
So while I understand what you said, I think it is entirely appropiate to throw around ideas other than "+5 dam to grends plz?" That has a value, and its real. But I believe that tweaking appeases more the hardcore gamer, because what experianced gamer doesnt like min, maxing? But lore(here a rather open ended and ambiguous term) drives content that brings in new players and keeps old gamers excited.
Before I end I feel like I do have a defination of what lore means, at least how I meant it. Lore is all the fluff/details plus the big ideas/events that make a world believable. In Miyazaki's "Spirited Away" there's an added level of reality to Chihiro when we see her put on her shoes in a way many little girls do. It was a minute detail, but it popped out to some people. Mass Effect 1 has a lot of very barren planets, much like Dust does right now. I think I can speak for everyone hear that played that game that those planets got very boring, very fast. What stuck out was the actual mission, like going into a mine or attacking a bandit outpost. The more generic, the more boring.
But the beauty of having fallen ships is that you know that this was a ship that someone actually piloted. People really do want something in it, and will pay for it.
I'm rambling. And presenting a properly laid out reasoning why this is a good idea from a marketing and design standpoint would take too much time.
Thanks for responding, I do think what you said had merit. Assuming that I understand your meaning, of course. |
