Despite CCP's arguments as to why they don't want to have more than two currencies (ISK and AURUM), having gainable Loyalty Points for faction warfare leads to more in-depth suit and weapon opportunities and a much bigger idea of why to fight, as a mercenary (which if I'm not mistaken, is defined as a person who lends his fighting services for money).
What will this do?
- There will be an easy balance against exploitation, but also an easy method of acquirement for new people who play Dust 514 to gain Loyalty Points; Simply 1 point per kill, and half a point for a kill assist.
- Prices of weapons and dropsuits of specific factions bought with loyalty points (ex: Federation Assault Rifle for Gallente loyalty store) would be easy to moderate and measure so they don't inflate too easily in usage since you are only dealing with gaining Loyalty Points with single digits.
- Newcomers can feel less inflicted by the "pay-to-win" aspect if they see that they can grind some items through Loyalty Points rather than resort to AURUM (even though it can still be an option; keep reading to understand why).
- Faction Weapons bought through the Loyalty Store with loyalty points can be intermediately better than their standard counterpart; This means that a Faction weapon at the advanced level will be better than an advanced weapon of the same type, but not better than a prototype weapon, which still allows for AURUM weapons to be better if they want to use a weapon of the next skill "tier".
- Officer Weapons will automatically be balanced as a Faction variant of a prototype weapon will be better than a regular prototype, but not as well as an officer weapon, which will allow for people without access to officer weapons to use something almost as competitive, but also for people with officer weapons to use something else that is albeit rare, but still reproducible from fighting more mercenary/faction battles.
- Vehicle Users will finally get some love, as even an extra high slot or low slot on an HAV or extra shield and buffer will drive people to use these items.
- And last, but not least, it will integrate the Dust 514 community more than it ever has, as people between different corporations can laugh and chat with other people who they may be at war with, but for this specific battle, they are brothers in arms for the same faction.
So, what do you guys think? I feel this idea is very easy to integrate, and adds a lot more to the table of Dust 514, as people will see a lot more progression in both their faction's territory, but also their variety of arsenal, so they can access weapons that are better than their standard counterpart while waiting a god-awful amount of time to skill into the next bracket.
