blaster turrets are better for close range, missiles are better for medium range. in general, though, missiles are much more effective on dropships since we can get an overhead angle, which means splash damage becomes pretty deadly.
blasters are also highly anti-infantry. missiles can take out turrets/vehicles much faster.
and if you're planning on having random team gunners, go for missiles. generally the less experienced gunner won't know how to manage blaster overheat so you're better giving him an infinite amount of ammo and no overheat from missiles to get the most out of it.
and if you're talking about large turrets:
go blasters. then you have skilled into railgun for longer ranges too. blasters are extremely good at taking out infantry, but I can see why people are going for missiles.
missiles give you that extra range which means you're safe from av grenades, but to be honest a railgun can achieve the same thing if you're accurate and can manage overheat.
basically, if you like using your vehicle as anti-infantry, go blasters. anti-vehicle, go railgun/missiles like to stay behind the front line, but don't like camping? missiles |

Sorry for the missile tanking lately, been bored. Had the SP to throw around.
Don't spend SP on missile turrets unless the following is true:
1)You have Hybrid turrets maxed out. 2) You want to make a missile boat Falchion

1) Passive damage bonus with the skill. 1% per level. 2) Sometimes you want or need a Scattered Ion Cannon(with a damage mod) to get the job done. |

Do you not like AV nades?
Yes, speed modules are very nice for armor tanks. If you can live without the scanner. Which I can't on a blaster tank. |

That's the difference between 105 damage per round and 150 damage per round. |

Recently I made the switch from a rail tank to a missile tank.
I don't think I'm going back to rails any time soon. Accelerated Missiles slaughter armor tanks :3 |

Yeah shield tank with missile turrets completely destroy armor tanks if you keep your distance.
i love it when shield tanks get close range and try to brawl against armor tanks then cry about why they lost. |
