So, in an attempt to fix murder taxis, all CCP did was remove starter fit LAVs. Not only did these have nothing to do with the problem, but their existence balanced something else in the game-
Through merc packs, players can get a BPO Saga. Previously, this was no big deal- just a small step up from starter fit LAVs.
Now that starter fits are gone, this is downright P2W.
While the average player can't use a (fragile) free militia LAV, players can use real money to buy a limitless supply of tougher LAVs, which can't be stopped like every other murder taxi in the game.
Starter fit LAVs need to come back- they weren't a problem, and actually made AV a viable role. |

I have the Blood Raider BPO, and it can be destroyed very easily, I mean not as easily as the MLT's.
The Blood Raiders/Watch Saga's you encountered are just very well equipped or you lack any AV Gear.
Plus if you don't think the removal of Free BPO's has reduced the frequency of Murder Taxi's your must be blind.
Free murder taxis weren't a problem because AVers destroyed them easily |

Not as simple as that. Now, they're much harder to destroy, and not as common, so AVers are putting a lot of ISK and effort into getting a measly 40 WP, since drivers almost always bail anyway. |

To be honest 25k per militia LAV isn't bad. 35k with a scanner. It's still fast and grants me a huge amount of mobility with a Forge Gun. That's what counts at the end of the day, the speed it grants you. For anything not an LLAV one shot is still doing the trick in almost all cases. Even if they bail the ensuing explosion often kills. I think there might be +20% damage for shooting the lower half of an LAV which makes the difference between setting BPOs on fire versus outright killing them. Would a BPO Saga be better and cheaper? Sure. Would it be a paradigm shift compared to a Baloch? Not even close.
The only way you're going to OHK a non-militia LAV is if you're running proto AV, or advanced with a lot of damage mods. |
