Don't confuse this thread as griping because it got nerfed, im just simply making my honest observation after having used them pre and post nerf. For a while now I have been agitated over the nerf of the tactical ARs. I am by no means saying that they did not need a nerf so please do not come to that conclusion and hear me out. The Advanced level tac AR the GLU-5 is well rounded and works well even after the nerf for those who can provide accurate fire and land rounds on target. That being said the Prototype tac AR the Duvolle Tactical AR isnt so well rounded, and here is my argument for that in a nutshell. We will start with magazine capacity: This is a prototype weapon, thus in theory it should provide some sort of benefit over the advanced level weapon. It however does no such thing and the magazine size remains at 18. Now, considering the difference in cost between the two models (17,625 isk for the adv variant and 77,280 isk for proto) is 24 rounds too much to ask for on the Duvolle? I would argue that it is not. As for weapon damage comparison 75 dmg per round from the GLU-5 compared to the 78.5 of the Duvolle Tac is a decent jump in damage, but one could argue for a small boost in fire rate (even if its just 50 rpm) at proto level. As it stands there is almost no incentive to warrant the 77,280 isk cost when you compare the weapons side by side. There is almost no real incentive aside from the 3.5 dmg per round and maybe an additional 10 meters of range to upgrade to the proto level at this point. All Im asking is to keep it true to prototype standards and actually make it a worthwhile upgrade instead of just a mediocre bump in 2 small aspects of the weapon. A perfect example of this is the GEK-38 Vs the Duvolle AR (non-tac variant). The Cost is well balanced for the level of upgrade received. Maybe some of you agree, more than likely some of you dont. Im just putting it out there for valid discussion. |

There are rare instances where I'll whip the D-Tac out. That along the cost of my suit, one death is an entire round's income sometimes. |

For me, its not an issue for the weapons and the stats they have. The issue resides in the hit detection. I have tried out the TAC variants a couple times and each time I have been astounded as to how many shots are on target yet do not register. I had one instance where a target was at medium range (occupied a majority of the scope) and at least a third of the shots did not register. The current balance of the weapon makes it so that the user must aim and make his/her shots count which is perfectly fine but it is sad that the weapon is more dependent on the system than it is the user skill.
Someone said it in other thread relating to swarms but I think it is just applicable here. There should be a greater reward for weapons that require more skill to use. The TAC can be that weapon if they ever fix the mechanics that govern it. |
