The Eve Council of Stellar Management (CSM) recently crowdsourced a list of things that CCP might like to look at.
It then whittled the list down to the top 100 via 'likes', then used another thread where people could vote for the ones they liked the most.
The results are really helpful in showing CCP what would make the most people happy, which influences where in the backlog these tasks should reside.
Is the CPM willing to do the same for Dust? |

The question is "Is it worthwhile?".
Eve is pretty stable, close to balanced and has few obvious bugs.
Dust is no where near that. The Devs have plenty of large things that need doing and they probably have a good idea of what order they want to do them in.
We are very valuable to provide feedback on things they've done (or if they ever tell us before hand - things they're going to do) such as balance and bugs.
As for a list of neat features and little UI tweaks and tricks..... The Devs have more important things to be doing.
I doubt that similar crowdsourcing is worth the effort involved at the moment. |

This is a fair point, but the flip side is that if any time is going to be wasted, it will be on our side, not theirs.
Plus, even if there's substantial overlap between CCP's TODO list and our list, having a ranked list that the players want provides more information to prioritise stuff when it comes time to plan their next sprint. |

Willing? Of course.
Capable? This will take some investigation. The CSM has over twice the manpower that we do, and created their own tools, database, and hosting for this purpose, so we'll have to see how transferable the system is and how easy it will be to adapt it to our needs. Some thought will also have to be put into the fact that the Dust514 player base (and forum crowd, the players most likely to participate) is much, much smaller than for EVE. Perhaps these two will balance each other out, I'm not sure.
The other major question is how much would CCP make use of such feedback. Clearly the studio has been in a state of flux adapting to a new development schedule, and the CPM is struggling to find out how we can most effectively support this new process. We still face an attitude internally of "we'll show you what we're working on once we're ready to share" - which is in sharp contrast to the way the Reykjavik studio invites the CSM into its release planning efforts. All that to say, there's no guarantee that going through a major crowdsourcing drive wouldn't be a complete waste of time. And frankly, I don't want to go through the effort if its not going to be taken seriously by CCP.
We will ask about this during our next meeting with the management committee, and try to assess whether it would be of use at this point in time. If CCP's interested in such data, we will certainly do whatever we can to produce it if we think it will be worthwhile and put to good use. I'll let you know as soon as we find out more information.
