When Uprising was released on 5 May we found many teeny, tiny issues. The totality of which made rail guns not worth using. These were addressed over the next few time units to what we are using today.
However.
There are many instances of LRGT not firing or firing rounds that actually fail to have any impact whatsoever. In the beginning (after initial patches) I thought that it was connected to draw distance and not being able to identify the distance to a target. Instead of showing the distance so the operator can determine not to waste rounds the more evolved and higher level intelligence in the tiny computer does not give any information at all. Which is the opposite of what should happen as the distance should always be shown.
That is not the problem however. I find objects (anything target-able really) that Cannot be shot. One can shoot until over heat and Zero damage is the result. Most frustrating as it appears to be different from match to match even if it is the same LRGT on the same map.
The work around that Mostly works is: Aim at something else. Hopefully within the current window with the actual target. Fire a few rounds. Then slide the pip back onto the target and try again. Repeat until damage is finally being done.
That does rely on the operator know that many hit boxes are not accurate. The common solution (mine anyways) it to aim Up And To The Left of the target While Keeping The Pip Red.
I have had occasion where the LRGT will actually fail to launch any rounds at all. One can hold the trigger and it will continually fire, the heat gauge, the gun barrel will show its animation although nothing else will happen. The round will not leave the barrel and no Pop is visible. This might violate the 'no list of bugs' but I really did not want to file a separate bug as the other is the more serious problem. |

A few times I was shooting at installations, only to not deal any damage, yet my reticle was on the installation and I had a clear line of sight.
I also lost a tank kill once because after I activated my active heat sink, I held down the trigger but my railgun wouldn't even charge up. Throughout these few seconds of confusion, the enemy tank drove away while I was left with a malfunctioning railgun. |

if enough of us can document what is happening maybe the Devs will have enough information to solve the problem.
I have also had the no response to trigger event, thanks for mentioning it as I forgot to include it.
Try my work around next time there is no damage. The Pip itself must be Red (Orange what ever) and aiming left and top will occasionally fix it. Although in your specific case I found that I have to shoot at almost anything else first.

Just a happy little note to let the Devs know this is still going on.
In Ashland I had two instances of the LRGT on the South (bottom of the jpeg) in the ground spawn; Skirmish, 22 Aug 2013, before shutdown. Although it can happen on any LRGT.
First instance: I am shooting at the object of a RDV's affection, a LAV. Results = Nothing. No pop or flash although I get firing sound and the barrel moves. I aimed at the RDV ... bang! That works except it got away, so I re-targeted the LAV and now it goes.
Second instance: Same map, same battle a Red LAV (maybe even LLAV) is driving into the Red, I have a clear sight, the pip is on the LAV as it turns a corner and Nothing. Again. I fire Five rounds with no reaction. The LAV bumped into something and stopped, backed up and took off leaving me a clean shot ... too bad it was shooting blanks.
What seems to happen it is just decides not so work (yeah, I know that ain't how software works) but if you target something else and put a round into the other item the first target can now be hit. The big clue is we have a valid pip (red) but no flash. This is even at close range (< 50m) where normally just shooting at Blue Berry in that range will give a flash as the round contacts the target area. These show Nothing. Gun fires with no result.
So good luck finding that bug. Although it is clearly an initialization issue.
Make sure to smack the writer of that code upside their head. |

I have yet to figure which specific turrets still have this problem. I have found two for certain that will never cause damage. I don't know if it is once in awhile or every time as it is not a focus of my game play. The images in the map feedback don't have the turret in questions.
Dom, Skim Junction, left side of the map, LRGT does no damage. I have found two others but cannot recall their location. When I next find them I will try and update this post.
I could test it on a QA server where it would be possible to force the match map and battle type. Oops! No I can't.
Now that 1.4 is out and has completely broken the game actually finding them will be a problem I suspect. |
