So after playing over the last few weeks, with multiple different squads. I've noticed that a common grievance in public matchs is when the enemy team decides to bust out the Prototype gear and begin to 'protostomp' the enemy team. Now being a relatively lower SP character [just at 6 mil], I have a few Proto weapons, and an adv suit, but even with those, I find myself struggling to compete with that kind of firepower and EHP.
My suggestion is this: Create a new series of match modes that are restrictive on the set of gear available. A mode that functions just as the current game modes but prohibits the use of prototype weapons, suits, and so on. As a trade off, the games could reward you with less Isk and SP upon completion. I feel that while the ramnifications of such a mode would have to be more closely examined, that it would at least provide some avenue newer players could take that would avoid the potential of them being completely outclassed by weapons and gear that they couldn't hope to beat in 100 matches.
I feel like the problem of Protostomps is a problem that shouldn't be overlooked, since now with the shorter time in Academy, new players are exposed to that faster than ever, potentially before they've even learned all the controls. How would a new player be expected to try and enjoy the game if the first series of matches they end up playing against organized squads of proto geared merc? New players might as well be tanking with wet paper bags, and fighting with spit balls.
My hope is that some sort of alternative is presented to newer players, or players who are just looking for a match where players aren't taking it overly serious by busting out 1.x million isk fittings, so that players who may have played the game and enjoyed it otherwise, wont get discouraged because their gear is completely outclassed by enemy mercs.
Am I alone here or am I on to something? |

it removes pub stomps but it might add more skill to be involved..
it would also be alot more fun all around in this mode...
so i disagree with the decreased isk and sp earn rate. |

I don't believe both should be penalized. Primarily ISK, and that is only because by nature, less isk worth of items would be fielded to battle. I feel like there should be some sort of incentive to play the mode where potential for Protostomps could happen, so a higher ISK reward could be it. Alternatively, they could keep the ISK and SP the same as current, and have the proto modes offer more ISK than the current modes do now, but less than in PC matches. |

Yes. I want Mil and lower modes, Standard and lower modes, and the like.
This should only be for Pub matches, as Merc Battles are the upper tier battles.
Only ISK returned should be lowered. Your still learning the same things that you would, only not getting brutally melted into paste. |

This is hilariously accurate. I laughed until I realized it was fact.

they need to introduce a small-gang competitive aspect to keep people from pub stomping. 1v1's through 6v6's. betting isk, making money. |
