As 1.4 is getting closer, I'm trying to imagine how the improved Aim Assist is going to impact the class-weapon balance.
So far I had the feeling that it would probably make the Assault Rifle superior to the Mass Driver again. And I think it will penalize Scouts, since their survivability comes exclusively from being hard to hit.
What do you think about it? |

What do you think about it? The assault rifle is already superior than the mass driver.... |

The "NooB Assist" will hopefully help with the QQing and the OP threads.... and just the general "This Weapon Is Killing Me To Much" complaining. |

Some weapons will be able to take better advantage of this feature than others. Granted, the ones that really can't all have damage, so there's that.
I think aim assist should be implemented, but increase dropsuit hp. Or open up 32v32 battles. |

Unless it's aim-bot extreme, I think I'll still be able to dodge bullets without too much hassle. |

There was aim assist in chromosome and the game was fine... In case you even players didnt know, ALL console games have aim assist. Thats why the aiming on dust is currently broken. Console games need aim assist because analog sticks are horribly inaccurate and arent built for prescision unlike a mouse. It was designed originally for atari like games. Theres videos out there explaining this better than i can. But pc battles are 80% mass drivers because of the inability to properly track your target. |

I believe that aim assist will be horribly broken.
The aim assist will likely aim at the position where the client thinks the enemy is and therefor continuously miss the target server-side.
Wait for 1.6 for a working implementation. |

Aim assist will definitely help the DS3 users with the super-fine aiming like a few people mentioned in this post. It should be able to be disabled though for the KB/M users otherwise it will probably make it harder for them then we'll get QQ threads about how they shafted KB/M users on a console game.
And @ Chunky Munkey, that would be like this which would be hilarious if everyone was doing it... I think Heavies would benefit from that the most what with the FG and all.

You're right, in fact Kb/m won't get any aim assist. Zero. |

Ah... I can just smell the ignorance. People who say that "aim assist" is "noob assist" are EVETards who have no clue how console shooters are. Pretty much every single one has aim assist, you can't have a game without it, simple as that. Dualsticks are not accurate enough to have proper aiming, it's just a fact. |

So... all kids with pads pretend to be god with aiming... and when they get beating qq like 'not fair', but... this is game for. Giving you god like expireince for the price ;)
Ask yourself: you want be almost god with aim assist with toons of kids... or have hard shooting game with some players. Ansfer from me: money tells... (we can still have chance to get hardcore game - from console look - and ccp have money from it)
Anyway have fun.. but not qq anymore about weapons/mods/aiming nerfs etc

I reckon we should get drones like those OWL things I've been seeing in KZ:SF, and if that's actively scouting targets for us, then we have some aim assist working.
Or just explain it as a toggled function of the dropsuit. Who would've guessed, eh? DUST 514, a shooter which has an explanation for respawning AND aim assist. That'll get people talking. |

Aim assist barely makes a difference in most FPS, it will just create a psuedo safety net of skill. What's the point of aim assist if hit detection sucks anyways. |

I don't see what aim assist has to do with the controls we have now, there's plenty other shooters out there with the option to turn aim assist off and the controls are just fine, bad company 2 for instance. |

I don't understand the issue with Aim Assist. It's already in the game and it's not suppose to aim AT your targets; It's suppose to help you keep track of them.
I learned that I don't like it because it will move your cross hair away from any potential kill if you are aiming into a group and some random just decides to run across the cross hair and drug it with them, when you're focus on the group. |

Actually pretty much every game where I've tried to use aim assist with DS3 I can't hit anything and it makes me confused because it seems like the crosshair has a will of it's own so I always turn it off and I hate games where it forces you to keep it on. |
