Fellow Amarrians, lend your ear.
Some time ago, I established a contact within the Caldari State. We had both been contracted to fight the Guristas, and as we were being flown in, he saw fit to tell me about his hardships as a mercenary. He told me that although the State was prospitous and powerful, living under a dictatorship was difficult. He belonged to a mercenary corporation, and was at risk of being detained because he was pulling less money from his contracts. He couldn't afford to be detained, because his corporation was what got him most of his contracts in the first place. He had trouble getting contracts himself due to his poor KDR, which he had damaged when he first became a merc. He didn't have the skills then, but now he was an exceptional soldier, picking up fast. But hey, records are records, right?
After the battle, I had reflected upon our conversation, and decided to assist him. I agreed to support him with 1,000,000 ISK per day, for the purpose of purchasing new equipment and other various things that would help him.
What bothers me is that this encounter meant that I was fighting for an ideal. I didn't think that this was a bad thing, yet it worried me all the same. I did a bit of research, delving deep into Amarrian Imperial Law, to see whether what I was doing was illegal. I found that the Empire prohibited support to nations of a different loyalty without prior permission. I wasn't paying Caldari State directly, only helping a fellow mercenary to retain his position within a corporation. However, the corporation belons to the State.
I am worried that what I may be doing is treasonous. I consider it fighting for a just cause, but my opinion means little in the face of the Empire. |

If he is operating sub par to the States mandates then such is the culture of the Caldari, he has not helped the collective, |

Um. Being an outsider to the Empire, myself, I may only be able to demonstrate my ignorance here, but ...
We're allies. Our interests don't align perfectly, but they do align. Unless those transfers consist of mixed liquid assets and state secrets, I'm not quite sure where the treason would be.
That said, I'm unaware of any State edict demanding a tax or fee anywhere near that steep. Dead Six is a State-loyal corporation, and there's no exorbitant fee for membership.
Infantry work tends to be highly profitable, as well. Are you sure you're not subsidizing a rookie dropship pilot or tanker? |

I'm not too sure about his vehicle proficiency, the entire time we were battling he was on the ground. The State didn't demand my 1,000,000 ISK per day, It was my choice to support my contact.
I still question his intentions. I have met skilled liars throughout my years,as a mercenary. However, it just doesn't seem like this is a hoax. If it is, it is an elaborate one.

A million ISK purchases a lot of basic gear, soldier. There is no detention order I am aware of on clone soldiers who end up low on funding. We have also not been even a de facto dictatorship since the fall of Tibus Heth; we're a meritocratic corporate oligarchy. |
