If there one thing I do when I'm taking part the skirmish mode, it's that sometimes I have to wonder why I am on a team who are losing and why I'm losing so badly!
It depends and it's usually different! 2 weeks ago, I was complaining about something else. This time around, it's different. It just happens to be that sometimes an entire squad is taking over and defending just one cannon throughout the entire match but not really taking over the rest as a team! Usually the maps where there 4 or 5 cannons placements on them!
And not only do they take over just ONE cannon, they take over the cannon which just happened to be the closest to the mothership and it lasts throughout the entire match, like no one wants to try to go to the other end in teams to take over another cannon!
Now maybe their some here that are asking, what wrong with with that? What wrong with guarding one cannon which just happens to be closest to the MCC?
I think many players here know the skirmish mode works and how to effectively win in the most simplest (textbook) way. The strategy being that the team has to work together to take over more then 50% of the cannons and have them controls for over 50% of the match to destory the opposite MCC. They can do this in any way they want!
There other cannons on the field. If a team are successfully defending this one cannon for a really long time. Why can't they group up and take over the other cannons in the same fashion and as a team?
The Maps are huge and it's possible to run to the other end of the battlefield and hack to the other cannons on the other end of the battlefield, which the other team sometimes neglects or would assume that players would just go to the nearest cannon but wouldn't. It's a good strategy and they make the matches more fun because no two teams are the same, they're always an ambush here and there and players are just shooting at it.
It's not straight forward but I don't like losing and if there one reason why I lose, it's because of this and it shows alot about the majority of the players that think they're hacking and holding the closest point, they're getting points or whatever and it only results to losing because they didn't look like they were trying to take over the other points of the match.
... and it is nice that the game isn't as straightforward, I'm just bored seeing the same reasons to lose and I find the matches uninteresting because of it and it looks like players aren't even trying to take over the other cannons if this keeps happening. What's worst is that it's late! After a while and seeing how bad the team loses, what's the point of taking over the other cannons if no one made an effort from the start?
Any team can run out from the spawn points from the MCC and easily reclaim the closest cannon! When I'm losing because of this. These folks are guarding it like it's the end of the world!
I think the developers should do something about this because when I'm on a losing team on a map that has 4 or 5 cannons and a team is only taking control of the closest cannon to their MCC until the end of the match and make no effort to take over the other cannons. I know I'm going to lose and its too late. I have to wait until the end but not really doing nothing because I'm know I'm going to lose when I noticed what going on and it's usually because of this!
...and I have to wait... for points and money of course! |

quite often people are either up against players with prototype or are simply new to the game. which is happening a lot now that the academy has been, dare I say, nerved. The objective closest to the MCC is easiest to keep because, as you so aptly pointed out, its closest to the MCC.
Players will sometimes find it difficult to get any farther than the closest objective because the enemy keeps stomping them on route to the next one or they get run over or sniped or blown apart by a tank. You understand? there are too many obstacles for new and poorly fit players to take any more objectives than the first. sometimes its impossible just to hold onto the one; that's what we love to call being redlined.
Most often in those cases I try to stealth my way to farthest objective, not to win mind you because victory is often a forgone conclusion at that point, but to gain a few more points. The enemy is usually too busy redlining my team to notice so it works just fine.
Generally, if you don't want to get torn apart, join a good squad/corp and work with them. Unless your whole team is on the public team chat its near impossible to pull off effective teamwork.
TL;DR Don't complain about lack of teamwork. Often the other team is winning because they've been playing longer and are just better and or they're protostomping you.

Take it easy with the 'HTFU' dude!
It's great to have people who are new to FPS and team work based games and getting into it. I mean considering this game has a way of making the game feel like a career with character development and loads to do, I think players shouldn't rely so much on
I don't mind excising a little patience for this to change but I do think it's worth pointing out!
I think it's worth pointing out because I think the development team can make something amazing out of this because it's common it really is! I think it's a problem!
... or a basic strategy section maybe or a section to explain on how to surprise the enemy or something. Who knows!
...or even if Corporations wants to point this out and make it more aware, I don't know, hence why I'm posting it! Corporations, feel free to take advantage of this information!
I just don't want to let new players left out myself and I think it should be bought up! It's just a game and based from that, I would say a little risk in that universe wouldn't hurt for a push to a win! |
