Not sure if anyone in the community out there has experimented with this, but do you know if the % heat rate on the laser rifle is the same as the damage that the laser is currently doing to the target?
I was thinking that I could get heat up to 75% and then 'tap' the trigger to maintain high damage. |

I use the layzor often, and I'm pretty sure that's not how it works, because if you get to 75% heat, you are then doing 75% more damage (using that percent for the sake of using a number). Now when you add in skills of the laser, use the viziam, and have Amarr assault maxed out, you reduce the amount of heat build up, therefore reducing your max damage before you run out of ammo.
If the heat gauge represented a percent in more damage why would they implement these skills into the gun? At max skills this would hinder the gun.
I'm almost positive that its how long you hold the trigger, it does say "continuous fire increases damage" when you pull the gun out. So in this way it would make sense to why they gave the Amarr assault and the laser rifle the skill in heat reduction that it has, and why the only change to the laser rifles as you go up the tiers is the reduction in heat buildup |

Yep you are right I have confirmation from a special person that damage resets when you release the trigger. |
