I posted this idea in another topic but I don't wana steal the topic from the OP who was talking about adding more bunkers and buildings into the game. The idea is for a new game mode that would focus on smaller sections of the existing maps to create a game mode similar to Rush in Battlefield 3. I hope some of you will read and support this idea
CCP could also do indoors only maps something like Operation Metro on Battlefield, now that would be fun. Having to fight your way around an underground bunker complex to capture or defend the consoles for the canons which are above ground. CCP could even take a leaf out of BF3's book and do something similar to the Rush Mode in BF, one team has to defend several "bases", the game could be played on the same maps but would focus on only a small portion of the map at a time, the defenders have to try to hold off the enemy and deplete their clones, the attackers would have to storm the fortified positions and either destroy or hack 2 consoles, if the attacker takes the base then their clone count is replenished and the defenders regroup at the next base, once the attackers have taken 3 or 4 bases they win or if the defenders manage to deplete the clone count of the attackers at any stage then they win the match.
I know it would be kinda stealing the idea from BF and I don't want to try to turn Dust into Battlefield but I do think that it would be really cool if CCP took the idea, made it their own and implemented their interpretation of it into the game. The best thing about this idea is that this game mode would double up as PvP and PvE when that is eventually introduced. Simply replace the enemy team with AI players or drones and the mission would be "Rogue drones have taken a vital installation, you must clear the installation of all drones and re-take the base".
Thoughts, suggestions and elaborations are welcome. Just remember that I don't want Dust to turn into Battlefield 3343, I just think that a game mode like the one discussed above could be implemented without too much extra work, the maps are there, structures are there, consoles are there, just add some more buildings and indoor areas and focus the game on smaller areas at a time and you have a whole new game mode without a massive amount of design work. |
