I'm going to keep this brief and to the point.
Change the current WP-for-strike model to awarding a strike for "holding" the satellite over the District, similar to the FanFest tournament. This would award a strike for each successful hold cycle.
Timer for Tactical Strikes would be between 30-60 seconds.
In addition, holding the satellite for longer periods would allow for the use of Medium and Large guns rather than Small ones, making them harder to earn and balancing them out against Small ones.
For example:
Small = 30
Medium = 60
Large = 90
This way you are forced to choose between using a larger and more powerful strike, or using several smaller ones, thus increasing the tactical nature of this aspect of gameplay.

Everyone knows OB was only put into the game for PR spin during beta.
It's a feature damned for all eternity like so many half finished projects in EVE. |

Eve ob's maybe in 2 yrs it will be time to sort them, no way in new Eden do I want ccp even thinking about them for a long while.
The current mechanic works, no one can be bothered with them nowadays |

^^^ This is true, the sheen of Eve OBs wore off pretty quick for both the mercs and the pilots. The current mechanic needs a rework on both sides of it, there's no major advantage for mercs to coordinate an Eve strike as opposed to just using a regular strike, andtthere's absolutely no incentive for the Eve pilots to risk their ships to provide orbital support. Any pilots I've ever coordinated with were only doing it for something different. The hit and miss nature of actually getting into a FW battle doesn't help things eother so I think we'll only see Eve OBs become a bigger thing once that is sorted out. I'd also lile to see some form of reward for Eve pilots, having a linked economy would make it easy because we could just pay them a fee for their support but in the absence of that I think some kind of ISK or loot reward for a pilot who provides OB support would be fair. |
