Dust 514 is supposed to be a companion of EVE. Why are we alienating it?
"Nerf this, nerf that. That and that need a buff." I'm getting tired of hearing these sorts of things.
It's my opinion that we have far too much offensive ability compared to defense. Let's count our defenses. Shields, armor, cover. We can shield amp and armor amp. We can repair armor, shields regenerate. Offense? I'll keep it frank. Vehicles, installations, guns. We can one hit with each of these, if we use certain things of each. Our guns are able to be amped considerably more than our armor or shields. There's no counter to a damage mod other than a bigger shield or armor.
Let me explain something. I run Gallente suits for the most part. I armor tank the hell out of everything with my gear. Everything that does explosive WRECKS my armor in no time flat. At the moment, armor is suffering badly. It's a bad time to armor tank.
Why mention the armor weakness and EVE? People are too concerned about making Dust different from EVE, trying to make it into something that it shouldn't be. That's killing this game. It's not the weapons, it's not the suits, it's the separation. We have no counters to the weapons we have. In EVE terms, we're flying ships without any resistances. We're just taking beatings for no reason.
What is my proposal that can counter the nerf screams? I believe that this game, Dust, needs to be more like EVE. "Hurrurhah spreadsheets in space". No. Stop. I play EVE regularly and I don't spreadsheet, because I play for fun instead of treating it like a job. I propose modules. Resistances. Each of our weapons are classified like they are in EVE: by type. Gallente, for example, use Hybrid. Thermal/Kinetic. What do our enemies, Serpentis, resist? Thermal/Kinetic. They are weak to EM.
It's my suggestion that we have passive modules for both shields and armor. High for shields, low for armor, similar to EVE. With shield tanking, you'll have to take a hit to damage output. With armor tanking, you'll have to take a hit to armor's health. As a Gallente armor tanker, I'd be using explosive resistances for my low, if not just one with an armor hp boost. This would effectively solve my problem against MDers, personally. |
