Just got out of a match where some dude named TWIGGY B absolutely decimated my team. GG dude, I would like to think the 8 guys on my squad sitting on their sniper rifles with their thumbs in their buttholes were taking notes, but I highly doubt they were lol. |

I'm reading a sniper book where the Marine speaks about a Mobile Sniper Strike Team. I'm taking notes. This I find to be very interesting in real-life as in-game. It's quite thrilling. Concept is to move to beter hunting grounds. The range of the AR can be a challenge right now though. |

Sniper battles are usually much more fun than the clusterfuck on the frontlines.
Last sniper battle started as 3v3, but finished as 1v3 because the 2 other snipers that were by me gave up the first time they died. I still won, though. Kept moving, unlike the enemy snipers. |

Yea I've seen a lot of peeps just sitting there taking pot shots from the absolute top of a hill or from the only building for meters around and either stay there the whole match, or continually die trying to get back to that same spot over and over. This dude definitely knew what he was doing. I switched to my starter sniper fit to try and find him (I usually like to snipe in a FPS, but for whatever reason sci fi/futuristic games all have a weird feeling when sniping to me. Not to say they're bad, i'm just no good with sniper rifles in them) and he got me three times at least, all in totally different places on the map. Places he couldn't see all of from one spot. He was definitely doing his role justice. |

Get someone in your squad to run around the outskirts of a map with an active scanner. I'm not to sure how effective it will be, but it's worth a try to see if any lone redberries can be located in hard to reach places. |

Thanks, Dunk. GG yourself. Movement is something I always try to ingrain in my snipers. It's good to know that a few people out there are taking notice, at least. Tell your guys if they need any pointers I'll be happy to help, just:
1) Be on the opposite team, or 2) Join Militaires-Sans-Frontieres, we'll be happy to get them up to par. ^_~ |

I wonder how many people have quit this rubbish, because of the ludicrously easy fgt redline sniping on these 1980's flight sim maps. |

I don't know the names of any of the books Niuvo, but if you can find anything on Carlos Hathcock definitely pick it up. Vietnam era Marine Corps sniper, basically THE sniper in regards to American military history. I've seen a bunch of stuff about him on the History Channel (back before it was the joke of a channel it is now) and the Military Channel. Some crazy ****. Super interesting. Pretty sure he owned the distance record for a confirmed kill in combat until somewhat recently. Think I heard a story about him where he and a Vietnamese sniper were tracking each other for like a week, and finally Hathcock caught a reflection of light bouncing of the other guys rifle through the bushes and put a round straight through the enemy snipers scope right into his eye socket. Pretty intense ****. |

Sometimes I bust out a sniper on my scout (MLT) and use it closer range than most. It actually works, because when they strafe, they appear much larger in scope making it much easier. |

I think I remember reading the shot through the scope was a myth. |

Sniping is easy and you will never die if you know what ur doing. I personally snipe b/c its more gratifying than running in head first. Head shots are easy on here. Half my kills are head shots. Just keep moving to advantageous spots and you will almost never be spotted. I like to watch hack spots and snipe ppl outta them. So predictable when they move side to side when hacking lol. |

I hate to be this guy, but I love love LOVED sniping in MAG. Just the ability to go prone added so much to the sniping experience. If you had the right skills acquired you could lay right out in the middle of a field if the grass was tall enough and not be seen. Pick a guy off, crawl 40 feet, pick another guy off, so on. It also helped that nothing came up when enemies put their cross hairs on you. Had dudes run nearly right over and by me more times then I can count. Apparently I got lucky. Got MAG right after it came out and only played for a few months (played hard though) before real life took away my ability to play. Sounds like that game went screaming down hill with the quickness. |

Sounds the same as all the assaults that can't hold **** while I'm sniping or the reason I go to sniper to get some kills after no one else is able to do anything against a proto squad as assault.

Hathcock is the reason I like sniping and the reason I will even redline snipe if I can get kills from there. It's also the reason I refuse to snipe in anything other than a scout/light suit.
Here's hoping CCP makes a sniper role light suit. Screw Heavy suit snipers. |

Yes, he speaks of Carlos Hathcock in his book. I'll look into him. He also mentions a Russian female sniper that was terrorizing Germans in WWII. Real life sniping is no joke, very intense, and cool. Yup, I agree that the Scout suit should have a major advantage in sniping. |

Reminds me also of my uncle telling me about a friend of the family. In Vietnam he and other troops were offered "light duty". He accepted and it turned out that "light duty" was sniping behind enemy lines. He had taken several people out during his tour. |
