It really seems strange to me, given the complexity of the skill system, that there is no option to reset those skills. This is a fast paced, evolving game with a bit of a hard learning curve for those new to the idea. Getting the warpoints to make your time worth it in a match can be difficult, I would imagine, for newer players.
Telling a player his choices are permanent and having him understand the scope of what that means can be very difficult, notice all the demands for respecs. It takes a bit of figuring on the skill tree and mistakes will be made along the way, but as you move on with your character, you learn and grow. You begin to understand what is is you want to do with you char. This doesn't happen the minute a new player comes into being.
So I propose, 1 respec per year.
You owe it to the new players of this game, as you don't have enough information to guide them in the direction they want to go. Not to mention a player can go one direction and realize they hate that direction but could have never know if they didn't try it out. And no, your aur isn't cutting it.
1 respec per year, would shut up the people demanding respecs (some no doubt with good reason, quit all the bashing) and maybe **** off some die hards in the system. But I care nothing for the babies from both camps, I want respec camp and No respecs should have known you would get nerfed camp.
I want new players to not be pushed away by the curve but given the chance to examine the curve through their mistakes and not be punished by it in the end.
Given the state of this game, you need an influx of new players to keep up with what you will or already have lost. |

Of course any solution will need to include better access to information for the players and a stronger system to enhance the new player experience. (Some key things like making sure that the recruit system works for new players and that the game provides new players with information about using militia gear to try things before investing SP would go along way) 0.02 ISK Cross
Exactly, given the state of things, new players are kinda left out of the loop and no doubt can make some serious mistakes without understanding the repercussions of those mistakes.
They need to increase the WP gain back up and give them access to all types of weapons starting out. Don't make them buy anything but give them weak versions of current weapons and vehicles to really set them up right.
Give a bunch of noobs weaker versions of all toys involved in this game, drop them in a game with other noobs, and let them bash it out. They will no doubt have fun doing this and learn far more then can be Taught to them.
Separate game mode for new players that takes far far more then 400WP to leave please. |

Sorry man, your post would fit better in one of the other respec threads. My only focus here are new players, not people complaining of so called nerfs (or as I like to say Balance) and wanting respecs. But I do agree given the state of the game, a respec in the future isn't all that unreasonable if they keep changing and adding to this game. |

Arc-08 wrote:honestly just about 1 hour ago there's a new thread about a respec, and your telling me instead of posting on that you have to create an entirely new one COMON DUDE you literally only have to scroll down less than half way and you can find it, just everybody post on that one before you create an entirely new forum post!!!
Honestly, this is exactly why I opened a new one. Because most of you are idiots... This isn't a QQ thread but you guys sure like to chime in with your QQ and morph it into that.
Let me restate this, this is for new players to the game, not existing players with 10 mil in Sp. I've stated some good reasons as to why this is a needed feature for the newer players to the game but the furthest you clearly read was the title. So let me reiterate.
The lack of information to new players set's them up for disaster. Most other First person shooters allow for a variety of fits, and make it effortless to do so. This game is different, I understand. It can take months to get the fit you want. I'm cool with that.
But the key is in the initial steps you take with your skill tree. Most players look at that and go the f*ck. Where do I start. How does this weapon work as opposed to this weapon? What skills do I need to make a good char? Shooting the MCC does damage to it right? A single respec for those less then say 2mil sp into the game does not hurt these precious mechanics of yours. There is no direction or guide for new players to follow when it comes to that skill tree.
Allowing the noobs to make mistakes helps them overcome the learning curve and keeps them playing, and in the end will make them better overall players. Which is something we all want.
For being a thinking man's shooters, there's a lot of mindless banther coming from you guys. How about you post something more constructive and actually read what is being said, beyond the title.
I for one, do not want or need a respec, just an idea I had to help the newer people out. |
