Officer weapons, for those of you who don't know, are the rare weapons that drop in groups of five. If I remember correctly, these weapons require their respective Proficiency skill at level III, requiring a large investment of SP.
I haven't seen/used a majority of these weapons, however I would like to give a bit of feedback on them. In my opinion, they should be incredibly powerful, unique weapons, noticeably different from their Prototype equivalent. The Officer ARs do a good job of this, with two variants with qualities not seen in normal weapons; a larger magazine and a higher rate of fire respectively. This, in my opinion, makes them worth the status of Officer weapons. The Officer Snipper Riffle, the Thale, also is unique, with a huge boost in damage and an increased amount of zoom; everything a snipper could ask for. This too sets it apart from the Prototype version, making it unique and desirable.
However, these are the only Officer weapons I can name that have a defining characteristic. I'll be looking at the Cala's MK-33 Submachine Gun mostly, as it is the Officer weapon I am able to use and a good example for my points. Besides higher damage per round, enough to give it a higher DPS than an Ishukone Assault SMG (Proto) and marginally better accuracy, there is no defining characteristic. Of course, this higher DPS is a nice quality, as is the slightly better accuracy, but it doesn't, in my opinion, feel unique. I feel that as a rare, Officer weapon, it should have an additional defining characteristic, i.e. better reload speed or increased magazine size. This need for a defining characteristic applies to all Officer weapons, as they need a quality to make them feel as unique as they are. I also feel that they should look visibly different, with a unique skin to set them apart from the Prototype variants.
TL,DR: Make Officer weapons feel more unique, with a new skin and a unique, defining characteristic setting it apart from the other variants, making it feel unique. |

That could work, but it doesn't address what I view as a problem. As far as I can tell, the Krin AR, Balac AR, and Thale SR are the only Officer weapons with super unique characteristics setting them apart. An Officer weapon should feel special, not just like the next step in the Militia->Standard->Advanced->Prototype chain. |
