I'll try to keep it simple
If you give Dust a third specific like CPU and PG, call it EQ (for equipment), and make this value high for logis and low for assault, you could mathematicaly solve the assault logi problem.
In numbers.
Cal Logi with 150 CPU 100 PG and 200 EQ Could fit more equipment and less damage mods that Cal Assault with 250 CPU 100 PG and 50 EQ
Could this work? Leave your opinion. |

There was never an assault logi problem, the caldari logi was intended to be a hybrid but is was to good at both roles hence the massive QQ. Now It fits the role of assault logi with low level equipment, unfortunately I picked that suit to counter the flaylock, mass driver, and grenade spam and then CCP removed the shield bonus and now mass driver are more popular than ever.

I don't think it is a good idea to limit possible builds...that is one of the selling points for Dust, the ability to create a fully customizable fitting. So I would say no. If a logi wants to pretend to be an assault, let him and kill him with your sidearm while hes is trying to reload. Caldari logi had a bonus that was not condusive to its ideal role, now it doesn't. No more problem. If proto gear is killing you left and right, it is the grade of gear to blame and you could use it too after aquiring the necessary skills. Though with enough skill, advanced is often good enough to take on proto in a one on one. |

Ideally, it should be a symbiotic relationship:
Logi keeps the Assault guys alive and supplied using the equipment at their disposal, while the Assault simultaneously keeps the Logi alive with their weapons and armor/shields, by eliminating threats, providing cover fire and, in doing so, presenting themselves as a significant threat to the enemy, in order to draw fire away from the Logi.
You shouldn't need more CPU for shields, if your Assault guys are providing you with adequate protection.
It's called "teamwork". The only problem is that too many people (in both roles) want/try to be one-man-army Rambos. |

Remove damage mods and add a 10%-20% damage bonus to assaults, lower their EHP and increase the EHP of logistics. This would also make assault suits more dependant on the Logistics. |

It created a single, universal, "best" build that everyone would use. That's exactly what you're arguing against. |

Thing is, as a logi when repairing somebody.. if the enemy is somewhat intelligent they go after me, eliminating the guy who can revive or repair. I need some way to stay alive, btw I do not use caldari I am gallente.. but if the change happened to cal logi it would follow over similarly to the others. I don't fit for assault kill em all quickly logi, but I do fit for eat some bullets while repping logi. with this idea it would be like using a slow scout to keep guys alive imo |

It's likely logi bonuses will be modified in the future to better suit their role. They really should have just received the Gallente logi bonus as the general bonus instead of the armour rep.
In any case, your suggestion is too much of an overhaul. The best way to encourage logis to be logis, is to buff equipment use, not nerf the equipment use of everyone else. |

It took me 2.5 million just to skill into proto logi. The nerf of the power did hurt, so a suggestion would be adjust the bonus for it to effect the support side and not the shields.
Like 5% bonus for each lvl for Nanohives or droplinks

If that is the case, then you should be striving to position yourself in such a way as to keep the Assualt between you and the enemy as much as possible, using them as a human shield, and the Assault should be doing everything in their power to draw the attacker's fire. His shields are also your shields.
Yes, an intelligent attacker will try to go after you first, but if your Assault teammate is also intelligent, he should be doing everything inhis power to make that as difficult as possible.
His job is to protect you, so you can keep him sufficiently repped and supplied, so he can effectively do his job, so you can effectively do your's, so he can do his, and so on, and so on.
In a true symbiotic relationship each role benefits from the other, resulting in synergy (the combined "whole" is greater than the sum of it's parts). Logis should not be though of as simply Assault's pack mules and first aid kits, they have a responsibilty to you, too.
And their responsibility is to keep you alive, so that you don't need the extra shields. |
