One team is in America and ones in asia
Just had a match where our team was winning 350v60 clones controlling C & D with them in armor and us with quarter shields as soon as their MCC hit armor all hell broke loss
Two people got disconnected, some people unable to hear others talking via mic Skipping avatars, modules unresponsive(aka our tanks could not activate their hardness or reps, making them sitting ducks) I personally got black screened After about ten minutes of lagging the likes of which you've never seen.
We end up losing 300v43
So basically matches are won via server roulette?

The OP description sounds like a less problematic version of what every match we had against CRONOS was like when PC first dropped. So, I feel your pain. It sucks, and there's probably nothing that can be done about it. Them's the breaks. |

I wonder why ccp didn't think about lag etc in continent vs continent matches... |

It would make sense if the server location was closest to the defenders. I mean just like IRL, if you attack that means you are on their soil.
Don't think it works that way in Dust, the server is probably in some location to give the most fair results to either side (which usually means it's pretty bad for both sides if they are far apart) |

As in, every other sport/game/competition/war/fight KNOWN TO MAN? attacker should ALWAYS be subject to house advantage, whether it be crowd, environment, landscape, climate, time, location, CONTINENT and CONNECTION. They're "half way" point is probably Hawaii at best, so we're pretty much playing on the Asian server (ever tried that? gFLhf)
In other words, AGREED. |

I believe that the first few minutes of the battle (when you're all "Waiting for Deployment") are used to determine which server is going to host the battle. My guess is that the server determines the best server, on average, for all the participants. It probably does a ping test or something like that.
One idea I've considered is setting the host server with your reinforcement timer and making it public to all. I don't know if this would be "fair" but at least you'd know what you're in for.
Also, welcome to our world. |
