Hiya, so I'm currently speccing into a caldari assault suit, and after I'm done I'll be speccing into one of these 2 sidearms to compliment my duvolle, and I've been contemplating the pros & cons of both of these weapons.
I have used the adv flaylocks on an alt to great success post nerf, and they seem quite beastly even now, and they seem to compliment the AR very well, as a cqc fallback weapon and as a high position bombadier weapon like the MD, I also have proto nanohives already so ammo count won't be an issue. Also the shield based suit will allow me take significant splash damage from my own FP in point blank engagements.
Now the SMG, on the otherhand has a lot of pros as well; it has a BPO thats performance can be improved by speccing into it, it has an officer variant, it is much more reliable than the FP because its a spray weapon rather than skillshot, it has serious damage potential, great stand alone weapon( for snipers or FG self defense, both of which i have proto and use a lot) and is just plain effective at its job.
So my question is this, of the two which would you recommend and why?
I feel like the flaylock will reward me if I use tactics to consistently get advantageous positions on the enemy(which I love doing) but I feel like the SMG will save my ass so much more because of its reliable switch-and-spray. So I can't really decide between the two. |

I personally use the scrambler pistol. A few well placed shots can down anyone, hit anywhere else and it still does decent damage. Not that great of a "HOLY ****" weapon, but if I see someone trying to close distance and my LR becomes garbage, the pistol downs him easily. |

It all really comes down to where you think you'll find yourself more often.
I'm more of an SMG guy because I feel like there are times at ranges where I get someone almost dead and want to get as many projectiles down that way as possible. I feel kind of the same way up close, but I know a Flaylock is better because you get that splash.
Both are good, but I think the SMG is a bit more versatile. |

Use an smg and people will kbow you have skill and integrety. Use a flaylock and you are basically a clown who cant win aiming. |

SMGs. They can be spray and pray, but I love ADS with them too. The m209 is a great midrange sidearm. I skilled all the way to proto but usually use the m209. If I run a proto smg, I usually drop my nades to fit the CPU, but that's okay, because I hate explosives and have never equipped a fllaylock.
Scrambler pistols interest me though, if we respec I might try getting I to those at least to advanced to see how I like them. |

I'd suggest waiting a few weeks until 1.4 drops, and then make a decision since we are not sure yet how it's going to change things. If both sidearms come out of 1.4 unchanged then I'd say both are worth having, but the SMG fits on more suits, so it's going to complement a greater variety of fittings. |

SMG is a monster, Toxin can handle more reds in more situations then a proto flaylock,.
When ever I go dual toxins, I play this song , i swear its a Toxin smg singing the song. |

agreed with hyena. Don't be a clown, use the SMG. M209 is a beast. I can exclusively take mercs out with 80 rounds or less. If somehow they survive the storm, RELOAD and repeat. It's a cool weapon to use.
Once new weapons come out and a respec, I'll just keep the knives for a sidearm. |
