Okay, hear me out: I was taking a **** earlier, and I thought to myself, "COUGH COUGH, COUGH! Hummmmm..... What if player-made things weren't BPC's, and were like EVE stuff, which were pre-manufactured. They would be moved by cap's that takes the requests, in which would go through either agents, or personal contracts This would make industrial ships actually useful (in all the year and a half, I have yet to find a use for them). Also, If there would ever need to be in another system (maybe for PVE? Like say the cap and the merc's are working together, and the cap's are taking them somewhere) They could be transported by shuttle, which has a passenger hold, which is the only thing that merc's can survive in. Other ships could also have one, but they should be way smaller, unless the ship is giant.
Maybe it's the sick talking, but I thought it would be cool.... Oh, I almost forgot; To balance the "space factor" of the player-made gear, it could get like a slight bonus. say 2-5% of something nice. But, if you don't have a giant op going, you could still buy the NPC gear.
Peace, Aizen |

I really like the idea... However
There are so many possibilities in this universe that would be cool game mechanics on their own. Item manufacturing, facility construction on planets, possibly terraforming worlds etc... All cool ideas that would be awesome to see one day, but for now I think CCP has enough on their plate as it is with Dust alone. But give it time |

Peace, Aizen This is the eventual idea, but with all the ISK in EVE, letting that work and not destroy either game is going to take some major planning. |

As far as I recall, CCP has a similar thing planned for Dust. It is assumed that Eve Online players (at first) will handle the production side of things for Dust items in the market since they already have a 10-year-old establishment of efficient and well-maintained production chains. At the same time, Dust 514 players will handle the mineral procurement needed for production. This makes sense if you think about. This way, Eve players and Dust players will need to negotiate in order to work together.
This may seem complicated for a first-person shooter, but the process is much more straight forward and much more simple than you think if you consider the fact that Eve players have established production chains while Dust players have already built up relations with Eve corps. |
