Why not start going AFK soon about 50-60% of players will be afk and CCP will do something about it faster
Votes are allowed to kick a player from game. Still wont fix it. Youll have squads of 4-6 players AFK. Cant be in redzone or your kicked. They will go out to to the far end of the map and camp there. If your team is redline guess what your kicked from the game. Change it so WP is your SP. This will gap the game from who is good and who is bad. Also hurting anyone who isnt logy.
Only true way to fix AFK players is to drive to there house(hopefully they are home) and make them play. |

oh ye of little imagination. Here's a suggestion I made in another thread that would remove AFKing:
Baal Roo wrote: Really, it seems the obvious solution is simply removing the non-WP related SP for battles. People would still gain passive SP normally, so the terribad players would still gain SP, but there would be no incentive to AFK farm.
To make up for the difference they could simply skew WP so players gain less SP per WP as they accumulated higher SP totals in a single match.
For example:
Up to 200 WP could earn 5x SP per WP 200-1000 could earn 2x SP per WP 1000+ earns 1 SP per WP.
Basically, diminishing returns.
This would keep the "participation points" aspect intact for the newbs and bluedots.
Earning 200 WP would earn you 1000 SP (200 x 5)
Earning 700 WP would earn you 2000 SP (200 x 5 + 500 x 2)
Earning 1500 would earn you 3100 SP (200 x 5 + 800 x 2 + 500)
etc.
The exact numbers could be fiddled with obviously, those are just an example.
I'm sure there are other solutions as well, that one was just off the top of my head.
In the end, the last thing I want to do is waste my gaming time NOT PLAYING a video game. I'll go ahead and keep playing, and I'll keep making fun of all the morons who would rather not play and watch a number get bigger, than just play the game for the fun of it. |

I'm pretty sure making the game enjoyable would go a long way in making people not want to find these exploits in the first place. The SP system combined with stale gameplay and promises of fixes / content are what made the "problem" what it is today. |

They don't watch the number... They play another game while they are accruing points. How do you not understand this? |

I still don't understand how the two are related.
If the game isn't fun, just don't play. In a year or two, when the game is considerably different, you'll have millions upon millions of passive SP to spend regardless. Why ruin what little fun others are having just to pile more SP onto a character you don't currently care to play?
Are you really so hooked that you need that extra SP from AFKing and 10 MIL SP per year isn't enough for you? If so, and you love the game so damn much, why not just play the damn thing?
It just doesn't make any god damned sense. |

I got a better solution.
Super simple.
Spawn on the ground and never look back at MCC.
That way you wont notice ppl being afk in the mcc, hence they will disappear ... from your mind
You win some you loose some. Its a problem both team are facing. Chillax, use cheaper suits if you wanna tryhard. |

That's cute and all, but the real solution is the same solution most of us have implemented:
We just don't play.
Enjoy all your SP in the game that bombs because of the terrible "community" that would rather watch their SP go up than play the game. |

No i'm serious, I rarely notice ppl being AFK this way. Unless i'm put into the battle midway threw. I do my thing in my cheap suits trying to get the most of it.
TBH i think its wishful thinking to consider CCP will fix it. its been around for a freaking while and they nerfed the friendly lav collision and the nade cooking that helped prevent it.
Never played eve but mcc afking seems to be more work than mining in eve . |

For me, the problem is that the game is already gimped at 16 vs 16, which is laughably small for the mechanics of the game and the size of the maps. When there's 5 guys AFKing in both MCCs (which is like, half the matches anymore... especially this week with the AFK Bonanza Event going on) you're down to a pitiful 11 vs 11.
I mean, I couldn't even tell you the last time I queued into a match and at least 5 people weren't AFKing. It's a large chunk of the population, and a huge percentage of active players at any given time at this point.
It makes matches feel like ghost towns. |

Remove the in-game passive SP gain altogether, and increase the SP gained by actually contributing and playing.

This might effect the weaker players that need the passive in game SP so there isnt the gap between "good" and "bad" players
Also people will just logy each other with nano, pick ups, and maybe heal's if an enemy shot them to earn more SP |

Only true way to fix AFK players is to drive to there house(hopefully they are home) and make them play.
....and it'll just encourage Proto stomping, new players who can barely do anything will not be able to get better gear, and Proto Stompers who don't really need it as much will get most.
No, that is NOT the "only true way" to fix it. Making the game more enjoyable and rewarding when playing, than when AFKing, would be a better way to deal with the problem.
Force and punishment will do nothing but drive AFKers and some non-AFKers away, not make them play.
To those who say "Well good riddance" Yeah...you don't care if its good for the game overall, or not, do you? |

I agree with if the game was more rewarding people would somewhat stop going AFK. Maybe PvE would fix this or something to do with FW?
I was being a smart butt about "the only true way" its more of a joke then anything. |

Why not afk and use a booster. If your not using a booster to get past 10mill SP you have a long long time of grinding. Boosters just speed things up. I recommend to use boosters until you have 10mill sp then you could stop using them.

Or, pay-to-catch-up-to-tryhards. Yes. It is quite brilliant. Why run around getting creamed by 6 man proto squads when I can watch Maury and afk my way to future success!
Let me cast some pearls before ye badposters. CCP removed the ability to kill blues with cooked grenades and the ability to run over friendlies with LAVs. The last remaining tactic to kill AFKs is to fly a dropship into the enemy MCC. I'm betting that there will be a nerf to that soonGäó
Why? CCP understands that newbies need a way to not feel completely helpless. If a new guy joins up, realizes he can spend 50 bucks and AFK his way to five million SP in a few weeks, why should CCP stop him? CCP is getting money and another number to their player count.
Understand that pub matches aren't the main game of Dust. The actual meat and potatoes of Dust is supposed to be faction warfare and planetary conquest. Right now, both of those modes are horrible **** that I can't care about. Once they aren't, then you can play those and friendly fire on AFK'ers all day. Until then, just play the game or don't. I'm not your dad. |
