oh ye of little imagination. Here's a suggestion I made in another thread that would remove AFKing:
Baal Roo wrote: Really, it seems the obvious solution is simply removing the non-WP related SP for battles. People would still gain passive SP normally, so the terribad players would still gain SP, but there would be no incentive to AFK farm.
To make up for the difference they could simply skew WP so players gain less SP per WP as they accumulated higher SP totals in a single match.
For example:
Up to 200 WP could earn 5x SP per WP 200-1000 could earn 2x SP per WP 1000+ earns 1 SP per WP.
Basically, diminishing returns.
This would keep the "participation points" aspect intact for the newbs and bluedots.
Earning 200 WP would earn you 1000 SP (200 x 5)
Earning 700 WP would earn you 2000 SP (200 x 5 + 500 x 2)
Earning 1500 would earn you 3100 SP (200 x 5 + 800 x 2 + 500)
etc.
The exact numbers could be fiddled with obviously, those are just an example.
I'm sure there are other solutions as well, that one was just off the top of my head.
In the end, the last thing I want to do is waste my gaming time NOT PLAYING a video game. I'll go ahead and keep playing, and I'll keep making fun of all the morons who would rather not play and watch a number get bigger, than just play the game for the fun of it. |

I still don't understand how the two are related.
If the game isn't fun, just don't play. In a year or two, when the game is considerably different, you'll have millions upon millions of passive SP to spend regardless. Why ruin what little fun others are having just to pile more SP onto a character you don't currently care to play?
Are you really so hooked that you need that extra SP from AFKing and 10 MIL SP per year isn't enough for you? If so, and you love the game so damn much, why not just play the damn thing?
It just doesn't make any god damned sense. |

Super simple.
Spawn on the ground and never look back at MCC.
That way you wont notice ppl being afk in the mcc, hence they will disappear ... from your mind
You win some you loose some. Its a problem both team are facing. Chillax, use cheaper suits if you wanna tryhard.
That's cute and all, but the real solution is the same solution most of us have implemented:
We just don't play.
Enjoy all your SP in the game that bombs because of the terrible "community" that would rather watch their SP go up than play the game. |

Unless i'm put into the battle midway threw. I do my thing in my cheap suits trying to get the most of it. TBH i think its wishful thinking to consider CCP will fix it. its been around for a freaking while and they nerfed the friendly lav collision and the nade cooking that helped prevent it. Never played eve but mcc afking seems to be more work than mining in eve .
For me, the problem is that the game is already gimped at 16 vs 16, which is laughably small for the mechanics of the game and the size of the maps. When there's 5 guys AFKing in both MCCs (which is like, half the matches anymore... especially this week with the AFK Bonanza Event going on) you're down to a pitiful 11 vs 11.
I mean, I couldn't even tell you the last time I queued into a match and at least 5 people weren't AFKing. It's a large chunk of the population, and a huge percentage of active players at any given time at this point.
It makes matches feel like ghost towns. |
