look I get the purpose of the red line, and trust me it's useful to everyone once the battle turns south.
enemies still won't be able to do extended battles inside the red zone at a 60 second timer, but they could do short excursions to deal with annoying rail tanks hiding behind a hill, or snipers that never come off the perches....
past that create cover for players to spawn in within the red zone and more areas to spawn at, and you should be fine.
I just think an imaginary line drawn on top of the battle field is the greatest defense to a tank making him indestructible and it's wrong, it's far from eve like. |

not really mad at a tank in the red line, actually i've only ever died to one once, like most red line snipers they are wasting hurting their own teams.
along the same lines as afking, players will sit in their tank in the red zone as long as it's impossible to kill them.
my stance is that their should not be a position on the battlefield where you can attack, while at the same time be completely impossible to be attacked back. I'm not suggesting we kick players out of the red zone, if players want to be safe they just need to hide farther back, and if you are that far back then you won't be able to attack at the same time.
the red line doesn't help against pub stompers, I can't think of a single game where the red line allowed the newberries fight on even terms against the pub stompers, the stompers still murdered them, the second anything but a tank peaked over a hill they got sniped. |

crying about redline ? go get another FPS and shoot there...
why? I don't care what weapons you bring to the field, I don't care if 99 out of 100 players decide to use a mass driver but that's because they are fighting and surviving with their own abilities.
I mean if you are fine with us killing them( as you suggested ), why not let people do excursions into the red line to kill these people in their own ways.

shaman oga wrote:naaaaa, red line campers are annoying but pubstomping it's even more annoying, people who shoot from the redline should have 15% efficiency, if their team hold at least 1 objective. I don't want snipers to stay in the core of the battle and i don't ask to rail tanks to play CQC, but they should stay in a reachable place.
that's why I suggest changing the red line to a 60 second timer, it changes nothing the rail tanks will be sniping from a hard to reach place, and they will be as effective as they are now, BUT the place they are at will be reachable, and that's what's important.
doing something like nerfing their damage by 15% is something I would never want to do, I don't mind players being in the red zone, I just don't want them attacking without the option of retaliation. |

heh...if only, though this idea would have issue with small maps, that is why I also suggested giving more spawn points and give them proper cover.
if you ended up red lined under this scenario, odds are you would just fall back your redline combat zone and fight like you usually would. you would still lose like you do currently, and the number of deaths you'd suffer in a red line scenario would likely go unaffected.
your ability to render a counter attack would likely become a little more difficult, but in 6 months i think I've seen all of maybe 3 red line scenarios get turned around, hardly a figure I'd base balance off of.
what would this give in the positives though? Well you'd gain the abiltiy to actually deal with people fighting out of the red line with extreme long range weapons, anyone who is attacking you would then become a viable target for a counter attack, sniper might leave the red line and start helping the team.
my suggestion doesn't remove the red line, it just greys the line of safety it applies, if you go far enough back I guarantee you that no red dot will get to you, even if you stay only a little bit inside of it the enemy will still be under time constraints to get his job done.
I won't sit here and say 60 seconds is the "perfect" time maybe 45 seconds is better, or maybe just 30 seconds, but 20 seconds is definitely too short |
