Maybe, in the universe that Eve and Dust take place in, space travel was invented before modern weapons were so the weapons we are using now are really the best they have to offer because it's a relatively new concept. |

Maybe the 4 races all came together and agreed to nerf the caldari and minmatar, then agreed reddots were OP, and forever banned customization? |

It's just a thought. People like to complain about the weapons not being future-y enough and that could be an explanation. |

Lol, so we're dealing with self hating Caldari and Minmatar.

I highly doubt that theory there are many opinions that could prove that statement wrong in a hypothetical way if you catch my drift |

Yeah, I know. But then I'd hypothetically sick my giant space shark on them, because as a mercenary that's what I spend my ISK on. That and funyuns. |

What could of happened was that during our time as in 2013 Earth managed to do something that impacted space travel in such a way that government funding, specially military, was shifted to the advancement of technology and space travel technology. Throughout this time Earth saw peace and prosperity and thus military advancements and the production of instruments of war became a thing of the past, for the time being. After the fall of the EVE gate when humanity was trying to regain its hold on technology part of the "lost knowledge" recovered was infantry warfare and with some slight modifications to them we now have regained what it was and continued its development after its halt thousands of years ago. |

Most Dust 514 weapons are extremely new to the universe, all previous weapons worked well before but that was before DGIAF clones came into existence were given the highly radioactive shields to defend them suddenly all those old weapons just don't have the same bite anymore even then things that would normally kill a regular human wouldn't kill an immortal soldier.
Both infantry and vehicle shielding is pretty brand new concepts as are most weapons designed to defeat sleeper technology inspired drop suits now. Fullerides and the discovery of sleepers have done pushed a crap tonn of envelopes in New Eden.
Now for some particular nasties of older weaponry.
This one pistol shoots a tritanium BB, pure Titanium reacts extremely violent to most atmospheres. A shot in the foot would serrate your entire leg as if it managed to survive going through a meat grinder.
An Amarrian favorite anti-personnel mine pops up and spins about with microfilament anchored strings. This results in thinly sliced humans for those unfortunate to get caught in it.
A Gallente method of public execution is to inject the person with a special nanite mix that when the crowd cheers just right and loud enough ignites the person alive.
Amarrians are known for biomassing, an excruciating slow process of recycling tissues, prisoners while conscious. Most other nations have the sensibility to put down the person first.
Bullets from Minmatar weaponry are nano-alloyed specifically to defeat shields and armor and uses a variety of methods to ensure penetration such as shaped charged explosions and dense core penetrators and deflective jackets. They typically cause serious amounts of damage on softer targets.
DNA poisoning is a very common means of assassination along with nano-disintegration
Another fun toy is the now banned Nanolysins which if you puff a cloud near person with enough of them and then energize each device the devices attempt to align up with each other creating a single strand of the stuff and slicing everything in the way of it including people or buildings even.
Things to note though.
We only been back in space for about 400 years give or take.
We know the people who came to New Eden were eons advanced ahead of us still and we can barely understand some of the leftover terran technology we have found. The Jovians managed to hide most of it however for their own research to which they too are more stumped than we are (they declared themselves at a technological dead end.) |

Or, our armour is just as futuristic as our weapons - thus balancing everything out.
Also how are the LR, AR, Sniper Rifle, Scrambler Rifle/Pistol and Shotgun (to name a few) not futuristic? Lasers, rail guns and guns that shoot magnetically contained bolts of plasma were pretty futuristic last time I checked. |

My rifle generates a tiny ball of super heated plasma, wraps it up in a tiny magnetic bottle and fires it at high velocity. When I run out of ammo I find a nanohive which detects the weapon I'm using and tiny robots build new ammunition for me in my weapon pouches. If my enemy is using fast recharging shields I throw a small EMP bomb to disable them.
If we could do this today I'd be a wealthy defense contractor. |

If I could do this today you would be currently working 18 hour shifts to build yet another 300 foot tall golden statue of me, the Emperor of Earth... |
