Don't confuse ineptitude with inexperience, these people have little to no experience with the PS3 hardware or fps genre. They have forums to have feedback on balance, technical issues and for new ideas. Demanding perfection on a video game is kind of silly. I have worked on fire safety systems and some of the guys that worked on them with me didn't have high school diplomas, fitting pipes isn't that difficult. Maintaining pipes and creating a complex computer code that connects two computer systems-that were never intended to work together-via the internet using a mixture of code that can be up to 10 years old are not in the same ball park.
Programming is much more difficult than routine maintenance on a set of water pipes and sensors. I have done both and programming is by far more tedious and shouldn't be put into the same group as wrench turning. I have personally seen fire safety techs mess up and cause a system to fail. It has the potential to cause death but doesn't result in death every time.
I am not the Union Pipe Fitter wrenching on the sprinkler system pipes, I am the person responsible for the design, installation, and PM of the entire system of a hospitals Life Safety Systems. Sprinkler systems are only a fraction of the system that I work on.
I am not demanding perfection from a video game especially from these people.
Again I do not understand why people are defending them so much, they suck at their job and no one seems to care and I find that pathetic.

Nothing wrong with telling a developer they have messed up. How you tell them is a different matter but the end result is mostly the same.
I like many others were brought in by the sheer potential this game had. Over time though we have watched Dust degrade as CCP seemingly ignores our feedback. Reducing the WP needed to graduate the BA is a prime example. Don't care what the data says, if they were listening to us they would have made the new blood stay in and learn the ropes a little longer.
The doom and gloomers do have a point and I'm right there with them. Dust WILL die if the devs leave it on this current path. Had things been different though and we had proper matchmaking, better aiming mechanics (or mostly turn acceleration off T_T), a player market and every racial suit I'd be right there with the CCP cheerleaders. Sadly that's not the case, and we are here watching Dust's pulse slowly fade. |

Looking around the forums, I believe the DEV team for dust is currently floating around 50 members. There is a lot to do and very little man-power to do it. Fortunately, I feel that with their current update strategy they have worked out the best way to update their older code and fix bugs at a profitable rate while adding new content and expanding dust. But, time will tell how well they do, especially with the release of the PS4 around the corner. I think we will be seeing four more builds this year. |

I think people telling CCP they are terrible people is not conducive to a productive attitude or will it in any way benefit those at CCP to want to work on the game. Do you have any idea what it is like to be an artist working on something, then to hear just one person call it crap can break your heart. Imagine if thousands did this!?
I hope CCP read this and understand that I personally am very, very glad that they can let these comments wash over them, and although I doubt it doesn't hurt them in some way, I'm happy that they keep it up. |

You guys got it all wrong CCP created Dust as an expansion of Eve online.
CCP does not care about the console market, proof is in the pudding look at Dust today.
In CCP will be left with EVE players who purchased PS3's to play Dust.
They had the longets beta in console history for nothing, other than rewarding players to keep thier SP when Dust launched.
My gut tells me the Mag community will leave Dust for PS2.
I have zero faith in CCP to get Dust right in foreseeable future.
I do believe it will be right in the ten year time period.
CCP needs to understand the console market first before Dust can succeed. |

Yes the game has problems, but so did Oblivion, Skyrim and both new Fallout titles and they come from a huge developer with a lot more staff and experience than CCP.
To try to give some of the feedback you were hoping for:
I am slightly....hopeful for the game. I am totally neutral when it comes to the debate of the doom or success of DUST. It's just my personal view which I guess your thread is asking people for.
I'm totally neutral though, meaning, considering factors like past issues, current progress, community, all of the unknowns in CCP's business plan and goals of the game I see the fate of the game being right in the middle of the scale. I can't confidently put a lot of my time or money into it right now so I won't. We have a great idea at hand and every other facet of the project is....just too many things to say yes or no on.
So I stand by what I've said before regarding DUST, all of the DEV's work, and what everyone is saying on all ends, "I'll believe it when I see it."
Some people's views of seeing the game as guaranteed to do well in 10 years is just delusional, and others praying for it's failure are just... odd I suppose. I don't know what people get out of that.

Lol some times my head spins............................................It was beta they wanted feed back and we gave it to them by the truck load, they still did as they wanted with out taking into account the FEED BACK for most part hence we have dust in it's current state.
For all the good beta FEED BACK did they may have well just opened up the game as it is now. |

Yoh, Rinon. Wise words from a friend of mines...
"Those who are complaining spend their time in the thread. Those who aren't spend their time in the game."
People will complain relentlessly, and I think CCP knows this but the constant criticism is good for helping fix holes we have in the game. Only thing we have to worry about is the playerbase making the game more crappier than what it is. What's funny is, a lot of them aren't even doing anything but sitting on their asses and complaining about the developer when there are steps they can take to making it enjoyable. tl;dr: People don't gaf. |
