For the record, I came to the game after the Macrosse Missile Massacre and subsequent nerf, so I have no idea how op missiles were then.
With that in mind, turrets feel pretty gimped to me, with missiles in particular. I speak mostly for small turrets (although I speak for all missiles, large and small)
The most annoying to me, at least for small missiles, is that any sort of movement knocks throws the aim of by a ridiculous margin. which makes hitting anything with them a game of luck rather than skill. Even if the spread is kept, can we tone it down significantly, on the order of maybe 50-70% less? I was in a tank moving straight forward, Fired straight ahead, and had the missile shoot towards the upper right portion of my crosshairs. Even though realism would demand missiles to move in a straight line once it leaves the barrel, I can understand for balance having a little spread. But as it stands, it is insane to have the dispersion it does.
Second, missiles need a splash range buff. Nothing huge, but they feel like they have almost no explosion radius at all. Now I can see them becoming op very quickly if they boosted splash radius by anything more than a meter. But give all small turrets a .3 meter radius buff, and .5 for large missiles, and see how that goes. It is a delicate thing to balance, but a large fragmented turret having less than the on-paper explosion radius (personally I have doubts that meters are actual meters in-game.) of a hand grenade? My large turret shoots missiles intended for anti-vehicle that are weaker than standard hand grenades? Again, dial the radius up SLOWLY. They don't need much work, but they do need some.
Now, small blaster turrets. They have almost zero dispersion, making them next to useless up close, which is supposed to be their area of expertise. I have to keep the dot right on top of my target to hit them. I suggest giving blasters the same sight as the AR, and making them get less accurate as the trigger is held down. this makes them more deadly at close ranges, because the spread helps keep at least some applied dps on a moving target, and rewards players for using small bursts by letting them hit farther out. For the record, amall turrets should decimate infantry, that is their sole purpose.
And small railguns. These things are next to worthless against vehicles or infantry. Since they are supposed to be good against vehicles, bad against infantry, I would suggest lowering the heat build up by a significant margin. It makes sense that a small turret has much lower heat build up than a large one, seeing as far less energy is need to accelerate the projectile. alternatively, have small railguns (maybe large ones too, but I can see this getting op quickly for large) be hit-scan weapons. Small turrets should be able to destroy an lav before overheat, something they struggle to do as is.
TL;DR Way less dispersion on small missiles, small splash radius increase on all missiles, give small blasters AR sights and dispersion, and reduce small railgun heat build-up/make them hitscan. |

All the little turrets don't shoot where you aim, unless the tank is immobile. The upper turret needs ball bearings and both the little turrets need a track to move theirself, left and right for the lower turret and a circular movement for the upper turret. I have some experience in the gunner role, i've never killed someone with a blaster when i was aiming direct to him, always need to aim in the air around him. |
