So my corp and I got a lot of hate mail when my Corp's A squad decided to practice PC tactics in pubs. We all used at most ADV suits with ADV primaries and MLT/STD modules, grenades, equipment, and sidearms. We specifically aimed to only take a majority of the objectives and then clone out the opposition, it just seemed more efficient than redlining.
This strategy worked pretty damn well since we won every match we went into by a good margin. Though, I was wondering if that would be considered pub stomping? |

???
Of course it is.
This is why we need a real matchmaker. |

VS a bunch of randoms, most likely noobs? Yeah. I want randoms vs randoms only matchmaking. Squads get to play with squads.

Pubstomp just means to make it one-sided.
To protostomp is try and make it one-sided with a squad of Prototype Caldari suits running with 1.5 to 2 times the health of your average medium suit.
A successful protostomp is a pubstomp. A pubstomp is not necessarily a protostomp. |

Really? I can understand a possible SP gap in the teams we faced. However, why should squad tactics be considered "OP"?
I used to play a lot of Battlefield and it's not only accepted, it's expected that one cohesive squad should make a huge difference compared to a bunch of people doing their own thing. |

A pub stomp is not defined by using proto gear.

It's not considered OP. Strategy and squad cohesiveness is not being railed against. It's the lack of matchmaking that is being confronted.
Wouldn't it be better if 6 man squads were pitted against a team with a 6 man squad of their own? That's the basic outline. Right now it might just dump the 2 veteran squads against 16 players fresh out of the academy with a single battle under their belts and I don't think anyone's going to enjoy that. |

First time I ever joined the online community or even a game corp/clan for that matter. The lingo escapes me but I have come to learn that I wasn't missing much on these forums of "debate". Lol |

Recently in a squad of semi-randoms we were dragged into a game of mostly very new players. In a Dren Heavy Suit, Toxin SMG, FG, and Watch Sage I crushed everyone anyone (just to clarify I'm a 30-something scrub). Only died once after getting too close on foot, might have been to Cosgar. It was freak'n horrible. Kills and deaths should be earned, not given. |

I wouldn't call it pubstomping. You won, probably didn't lose much compared to the other team, but it lacks the "stomping" aspect. Other team had mobility and, although they probably had no chance to win, did have opportunities to gain some WP for themselves.
I often wondered why more high skill squads don't do that. Red lining is boring and often results in less SP gained. By rolling advanced gear you may die more often but costs less.
I would not be upset losing to you. |

I can think of a few ways a squad can have an advantage in a public match: 1. Better gear (in worst case "protostomping"). 2. Higher SP (passive bonus advantage). A noob in militia gear is not the same as a 10 million+ SP veteran in militia gear. 3. Communication. good luck using team/squad chat effectively when soloing with randoms. 4. Tactics of any kind (again random solo players are unlikely to do this).
There is a fine line between "pubstomping" and just playing well. The OP sounds more like the later. The problem is it is mostly determined by the experience of everyone involved and personal tastes. Most players do not enjoy being extremely outmatched (whatever the reason). And only malicious players actually enjoy crushing another team (unless were talking PC or FW matches). Personally I get bored if my team redlines our opponent.
I also play BF3 and I actually think how matches are done is part of why I like Dust more now. If a match is imbalanced in Dust hopefully the players are shuffled enough next round to make things interesting.
Like others have said, I'd love to see a match mode or two that does not allow pre made squads since that would go a long way towards balancing out matches. |
