To sum up the Assault Scrambler in one word would be to say it is inconsistent.
The ASCR is the only weapon in the game that feels like it varies wildly from match to match. Some matches the thing utterly wrecks people (CRD and Carthum), other matches I can unload into a stationary unaware target and it does hardly anything to them and their shields. The ASCR is has the potential to be the most satisfying yet the most rage inducing frustrating thing one can use. Another annoying feature of the ASCR that I can somewhat get over is the muzzle flash...hold down the trigger and it's like having the sun go "strobe light mode" right in your face. As far as the semi auto SCR (CRW and Imperial), those things are my bread and butter - it is like a GLU and Charge Sniper rifle got together, had a baby, and out popped the semi auto SCR's. Yeah the ASCR's are definitely the oddball of the litter, that's why I dropped it and picked up the AR.
So I unlocked the Duvolle this morning and yeah, it decimates pretty much anything and everything, and better yet, it's consistent. There is no strange sudden lacks in stopping power or hit detection issues, it hits hard every time right when I need it to.
Idk if it is just me going mental or if anyone has picked up on it, but due to the inconsistencies of the ASCR I'll be using the AR's in its place. I will still use the semi auto SCR as well, but the AR's will see a lot more gameplay from me than they have in the past. |

This is why ARs need a nerf. They are better than the other weapons. Too much so. |

It's the 80% damage to armor that makes me rage. Lotd of kill assists and guys running away with a sliver of HP left lol. The muzzle flash is way too big and blinds me so I basically spray and pray. At CQC I just take out my Flaylock because hip fire is weird, maybe to accurate so less dispersion = less chance to hit moving target.

You really hit the nail on the head, the ASCR feels very much like a spray and pray weapon even when ADS and even more so with its odd hip fire cone.
As someone said above, it does bug me that the AR continues to come out as the dominant weapon choice. I have proto SCR with level IV in proficiency and the assault variant just doesn't begin to compete with the AR. |

In the grand scheme of things the one weapon the ar should be better than is th assault scram rifle. The scheme has always been proposed by ccp as best full auto gallente, best single shot amarr, best burst min, best breach caldari.
The ascr is simply the off color variant of the scram rifle and is fine. If you wanted full auto that's the ar. |

That seems off lore wise. It should be like this if it were to follow the lore.
Best full auto - Minmatar Best single shot - Caldari and Amarr Best burst - Amarr Best breach - Gallente
Reasoning - Minmatar are known for their projectile based auto cannons in EVE therefore should be the best at full auto weaponry. Caldari use missiles and rail gun technology so they should have a powerful single shot (rails), and Amarr have beam lasers EVE side which is also a powerful single shot. The Amarr also have pulse lasers EVE side which are like burst fire lasers so imo, the ASCR should be a burst weapon perhaps and not full auto. Gallente are known for their blasters in EVE that get in close and hit hard and therefore should be the best at breach. |

could this potentially have something to do with the weapon's optimal? I know with the laser rifle the gun can be very picky, and certain maps it just doesn't work as well on, because it's harder to force a fight in the LR's optimal range in certain areas
this can translate to varied performance from match to match based on where the battles flare up, especially if you're running solo or with players who fight in different ranges because without coordination it can be hard to bottleneck the enemy in optimal range. I dunno what the ASCR's optimal is though, if anyone has it that would be useful.
but yea the AR is definitely easier to use by a long shot. dunno if I care too much though, just get the rest of the racial rifles out, then we can balance for those and maybe the current AR will becomes less of an easy mode default gun choice.
Also, fyi, gallente AR is not technically supposed to be "better" outright than the ASCR, what CCP means is that gallente is traditionally the closer range blaster/hybrid assault rifle race, and so the AR will do better in closer ranges. The ASCR would be the Amarr facsimile of blaster close range, but since it's still based on laser tech, it would logically be a little less DPS in close quarters and maybe a little more range. So not identical, not definitively worse, just different.
P.S. guys, the races shouldn't be defined by "full auto" or "burst" or "single fire". it's more about the different modeling of the optimal and falloff ranges (IE minmatar autocannons have short optimals but long falloffs, so they continue to do damage at long distances, while lasers have long optimal but short falloff) blasters, autocannons, pulse lasers, they can all be built for continuous, or full auto DPS at different ranges depending on what you're going for, or you could go for high alpha builds with low DPS, high DPH turrets, defining guns in dust in such closed terms makes no sense. |

Almost at my Proto ASCR and I have to agree it is inconsistent at times. Sometimes I do quite good with it and sometimes not and most likely due to the AR storm, it is the ASCR's worst enemy and have to switch to my handy SMG up close. |

It does. It has far too many benefits and no real downside. Also, it's being used to kill almost as often as 11 of the 14 weapons combined in pub matches. |
