Short of cooking off a grenade or enabling friendly fire, the easiest way to stop AFKers is to take away the reward for AFKing.
The event running right now (2x the SP) is set in such a way as to increase the SP yield per WP obtained in the battle, without increasing the passive SP gain while in matches.
In other words... the SP/second rate is unchanged, but now War Points are worth more SP.
Why not take this idea and push it further?
Option 1 - Eliminate passive gains in battle entirely, and increase the SP->WP exchange rate to compensate. There will be no reward for joining a match and doing nothing... you'll actually need to go out and participate in order to get your payout.
Option 2 - Put a floor on WP obtained before passive SP gains kick in. For example.... you accrue passive SP in battle (SP/second) at the normal rate, however, you only get that SP awarded if you achieve a minimum amount of WP in that battle... say... 300.
I am tired of feeling like the only person pushing for objectives and seeing score boards like this at the end of matches:

There is a fundamental problem with the changes you describe. Because of the very existence of the skill system, basing skill gain primarily on warpoints mean the gap between the older and better players increases far more than under the current system.
Older and better players can more consistently earn warpoints than newer and poorer players. It would be a self-reinforcing vicious cycle. See here for something better. |

Great, now going 11-20 gives you more SP than going 7-1. WP is an imperfect system and will always be. Even if they add in gains for things that need WP and continue balancing/adjusting WP, it would still be a bad idea to make WP the sole factor. This gives massive incentive to boost WP, as well as giving additional incentive to ***** for WP over anything else.

Wouldn't really help either. It would be devastating to new guys that might not even get 300 WP in an ambush match. It would need to scale with length of time. Could be easily abused/circumvented as well.

If the game was fun for everyone, no one would AFK. Only way to even the field is to wipe the SP, which would effectively kill, what, 4/5ths of the current population? It's not going to happen. On top of that, they'd have to fix the aiming, the servers, the gamebreaking bugs.
People are going to AFK. Hell, I go to Oceania when I'm tired of seeing protogear teams and three+ heavy tanks every game (no matter the game type). This game isn't fun.
I play EVE while I'm on Oceania. Mwhahahaha. |

If afk was banned the population would NEVER hit 3k is that what you really want? 2500 dedicated kb/m evetards to play a lobby shooter with?
