So I want to learn how to use Armour Tanks for when the Amarrian HAV is released. Though I'm sure the style of play will vary between the Gallentean and Amarrian HAV's I still figure I should learn the basics of fittings, manoeuvring, targeting, and threat analysis.
So basically what I would like to know is how to make a decent Soma fit with minimal skill investments in Gallentean HAV skills, and generally know what as a prospective HAV pilot my job is on the battlefield.
Also any tips would be appreciated and if anyone would take the time to run a few matches with me in my Soma fit I'd compensate them with ISK. |

The problem is you want to spend or not? You can fit a full MLT soma for 200k or fit a soma with non MLT modules and spend at least the double for A LITTLE more survivability, if you have the possibility fit a madrugar, the costs are higher but you have a higher chance to survive.

I'd recommend speccing into a Madrugar tbh. It'll be a while before Amarrian HAVs show I think and in the meantime the Madrugar is an excellent choice - put on hardeners, a plate, and a heavy repper and you're set. |

Dude you know how much I hate dirty Gallentean scum. Im not going to waste SP on their tanks when Amarrian tanks will soon be here.... I hope.
TLDR- Never driving scummy gallentean tanks, all I want is fits to practice with. |

Too bad you aren't using a shield tank... I could've given advice then. Also, if you haven't already done so, start skilling into vehicle upgrades.
Soma
Turrets - 1x Militia 80GJ Blaster 2x Whatever fits
Low-Slots - 1x Carapace Armor Hardener (Or the best Hardener you can fit) 1x Heavy Efficient Armor Repair Unit (Or the best Repair Unit you can fit) 1x 180mm Reinforced Polycrystalline Plates (Or the best Armor Plating you can fit) 1x ______ (Put whatever you want in this Low-slot)

Vehicles suck very bad right now so get ready to get insta blown by assault Forge Guns and Swarm Launchers. I believe Amarr tanks will be hybrid tankers because the suits follow this line. So investing in armor and shield modules for the tank hopefully won't be a waste. But specialize in armor modules first. This is how I'll make a Soma fit:
-Scattered large blaster -2 small missile turrets for lowest PG possible -Heavy armor repairer (lowest PG one) -Light (60mm) armor plate (lowest PG one) -Active armor hardener -PG upgrade -Heavy shield extender -Light shield booster
I'm not sure if the CPU is enough to equip all that, most likely you'll have increase the CPU skill.
Shield HP: 2573 Armor HP: 3400
Yeah looks weak but that will give you a better understanding of how Amarr tanks could work. Good luck.

Vehicles don't suck there are huge imbalances I no see between HAV's and AV.... its almost comical that I didn't see these issues before. |

I'm speccing AV, just for you.
Seriously though, if you want to do tanking in an armour HAV you'll have to use a Gallente one or wait a good few months. Probably until next year. |

I know your pain True. I tried working on some militia fit vehicles but it honestly isn't worth it. What I did instead is made an alt awhile ago that now had about 3.5 million unallocated and spent it all on a good Python fitting that I can do well in.
Honestly just wish CCP would release Amarr and Minmatar vehicles already. |

However using Soma's as little throw away vehicles I amazing. No one ever expects me to jump out and be more proficient as infantry than as a tanker. |

-XOXO CCP has it all wrong with the Amarr dropsuit. Amarr are the best armor tankers, so they should have more armor than Gallente. Perhaps remove some of Gallente's armor when drones come out?
Also, the Minmatar are the true hybrid tankers. You can take any Minmatar ship and either fit it for armor or shield and it still works. It also works because they are the fastest.
A hybrid vehicle for Amarr is simply the dumbest idea possible. |

ikr...honestly I don't know a thing about EVE but always heard that the Amarr were the true armor tankers. What's up with this hybrid tanking on the suits? The only one that has more armor than shields is the Amarr logibro and the difference between shields/armor is not that significant (like Gallente). The tank I suggested is almost like an Amarr heavy with 500 shields and 800 armor.
