I'd never really thought about just how low that is before.
For those of you that don't play EVE, for each of those long-duration server outages we had over the last few months, EVE players received 50,000 unallocated skillpoints.
That would mean that if TQ were to go offline for 4 days, I would get more SP having done absolutely nothing than someone who played Dust all week.
I think something is wrong with that picture. |

EVE SP are not the same as Dust 514 SP, because they're different games and have different SP accrual mechanics.

Not really, considering that with an original goal of 7 years to max Dust, with the current rate still in place, you're going to be looking at 20 years easy when all the racial gear is in.
And they obviously plan to add more content over time.
It's the same basic principle. With everything that's in the game now, and is going to be put in in the future, I think a higher base skillpoint gain should be considered. |

The cap is way too low. People who enjoy playing this game shouldn't be penalized. They should be rewarded for their time spent playing. |

The devs made sure skills that share names between the two share the time it takes to get them. From that we figured that 1 EVE skill point > 1 Dust skill point. |

7 years wasn't a goal. It was a estimate of the time to max out the skills available in that current build, which was before closed beta I believe. The skill tree revamp and any new skills and equipment they add are going to add more time to that estimate. Just because they add more to the game doesn't mean the are going to reduce the time it takes to train everything else. |

It's the same basic principle. With everything that's in the game now, and is going to be put in in the future, I think a higher base skillpoint gain should be considered. You know, some people have been saying this for god knows how long.
Currently we're looking at around 10 years to max out every skill with no boosters I think. At the beginning of Uprising it was about 13 years, but they lowered the multipliers on the suit skills and a few others I think, so it's dropped down to around 10 years.
10 years wouldn't be a bad end goal (maybe slightly higher) in my opinion, but since the content we currently have is what? Less than 50% of what we can expect to get? 10 years is way too much currently. With everything in, we're probably looking at 20-25 years to max everything. That's 20+ years of hardcore grinding (non-boosted).
With the current skill tree I would say 4-5 years would be more appropriate. We're still looking at a massive amount of missing content such as the missing racials of a lot of the current things, Crusader, Pilot and a not yet announced third suit (I guess), Gunships, Fighters, Speeders, MAVs, a ton of weapons + other things we don't know about yet.
With all that in mind the time to max the current skill tree is way too high. I still think we should keep the same SP cap as we have now, but triple the SP gains so that you hit it very fast and remove the 1k SP max you have after you hit the cap, but just give 1 SP for 1 WP with no maximum. |

Personally, I'm ok with their idea of a "rolling bonus" system in place of a hard cap, as long as that also comes with a boost to SP gain.
A grind is a grind, but there's a major difference in the degree of grind between that option and what we have now. At least then you'd be grinding with some feeling of accomplishing something. |

The whole point of the game is you aren't supposed to be able to max the skill tree. You are supposed to specialize and be a special snowflake.
Your choices has consequences as all the fanboys love to say. |
