From the Wiki:
Quote:Squad members are able to see and select drop uplinks of other squad members as a spawn point. If you're not in a squad, your uplinks may be used by all who also do not have a squad. The hacked drop uplink allows everyone in your team to use it.
Is this still the case? I was under the impression that everyone can use all drop-links no matter if squadded or not? |

That is not the case. HOWEVER, there's something weird going on with uplinks because it has been confirmed (many times by me and others) that if you are in a squad, there are cases when someone not in your squad has spawned on the uplinks 'belonging' to a squad. And this happens with other uplinks than hacked ones.
So...
*shrug* who really knows? CCP? I'm not sure even they know. |

Mhh its really frustrating as a logi to get basic informations on how exactly the equipment actually works currently in the game. As example the scanner "nearby" range or this droplink usage is not even mentioned in the "logi code" guide or other guides, let alone ingame help/infos.
All i want to know, is can squads spawn on my droplinks if i'm not in any squad, but guess getting reliably information in Dust Beta is to much to ask.

It shouldn't be too difficult to test.
Make a squad, drop an uplink, see if anyone else spawns on it. |

Sure, but until now it did not cross my mind they could work like this. Was just reading the wiki a bit and was surprised. I was even more surprised that this seem's to-be unknown, even after couple of months after "release". This should be common logi knowledge, but i cant get a reliably answer. Thats the same problem i have with my Active Scanner question. |

No sure... but i think that only applies when you Squad is FULL ( All 6 slots taken ). But i could be wrong, don't take my word for it. |

Found this quote from june, regarding DU:
Quote:They are no longer just for Sqauds. I have been spawning in on other teammates DU since this build.
This still don't fully answers my question, if squad members can spawn on none-squadded DU? |

I think the bluish glow area around the droplink is nor only the possible spawn area. But also if someone not in your squad runs over it they can then spawn there also. Have not tested this but it seems a reasonable assumption. |

Uh, people not in my squad use my uplinks all the time. It's how I get crazy WPs typically. |

I have the same impression, but i play none-squadded normally. So the wiki is outdated than it seems. |

Maybe you have to lock the squad? I have no idea; I didn't even know that this was a thing. I would be pretty bummed if others couldn't use my uplink. |

Uplink use has been inconsistent for a long time. What CCP says they should do and what they actually do doesn't seem to match. I run unsquaded to try and make mine as useful as possible. |

Got this answer from a GM:
Quote:Drop Uplinks: If you are not in a squad, the entire team can spawn from your drop uplink. If you are in a squad, only your squad mates can spawn from your drop uplink. If you are in a squad and drop a hacked drop uplink, then anyone in the team can use it (thus generating more WP)
So since active scanners are only usefully if u are in a squad, but DU are most usefully without a squad there is some sort of conflict here... |

Just retested the lvl3 DU and i can confirm that ATM i saw players spawn at it, that where not in my squad. So even the GM dont have a clue how DU work or supposed to work atm... what a shame CCP. |
