don't judge my noobness- but here is me on my second day of dust. (today) when i got to my PS3, I wanted to play this cool new game I got yesterday, but only had time to play some academy rounds. i see the servers are down. no biggy. when the U.S. servers re-launched I wen on to see that there was no more academy. I must've graduated . I continue what i was doing the other day and make a corperation... little did i know what they did. so i create my corps and join a skirmish game. it was already in progress but i didn't mind. i optimized my dropsuit to regen faster that protect. that was a mistake. snipers were on to me like lint on a roller. I finally learn where they are and hide from them while i hack a tower. I got past the initial stage but died when the narrator said 'uploading'... by a sniper. i decide to try to snipe with my scrambler (seemed good to me, i mean the snipers are ketting all the kills, right?) I never stoped to think how easy it would be to counter snipe me. too easy. with both attempts failing i switch out to my 2nd layout (dual SMG's) i am really good with this class on ambush, but not on skirmish. I quickly get charged by a pack of wild D-bags weilding mass drivers. well, what am i to do now??? the noob in me says "GO ANTI-ARMOR" i load the default anti-armor layout and start trying to lock on to the huge red ship in the sky. I'm amining up asking myself why is doesn't lock. then... VROOOM run over into bullet bancakes pancakes by tanks. I am defeated and out-gunned. my noob-self quits and goes to play kerbal space program. then makes a post on here. Anyone else have similar stories? |

Maybe I can help.
- To avoid getting killed by snipers, try not to stand still. Move unpredictably. If you have to stay still to hack something try to make sure there is some cover between you and the sniper. If the sniper has a good line on the terminal at an objective this can be hard. In that case, hack in pairs so that if one of you gets sniped, the other guy can complete the hack. Usually the sniper will not have time to kill you both. Once the virus is uploaded the other team has to counter hack to stop the hack from going through and counter hacking takes much longer than hacking.
- I run double SMG often. You need to use cover to get close to the enemy without them shooting you, or to force them to come close to get you. Against a Mass Driver, get right in his face, so that shooting you with the Mass Driver will be suicide.
- The really big ship in the sky is the MCC. No weapon you have will damage the MCC. That is why you are hacking the Null Cannons. Null cannons do a lot more damage, as any Dropship pilot who has flown in front of one will tell you.
- I donGÇÖt usually recommend that new players create their own Corp, but at least you picked an interesting name.
- Try to format your posts better so that they are easier to read. You can go back and edit your post if you want to improve it. Spaces between paragraphs/ideas help. |

Yea, the best bet to avoid snipers is to stay moving. If they're watching an objective waiting for you to hack it, you're pretty much out of luck without some team play and or a sniper from your own team to watch your back. I'm 6 days in and the games still pretty tough. There doesn't seem to be any game changing tips or tricks, just gotta pay attention to the small stuff. Stay moving, pick your fights (if you open up on a heavy and you can barley nick his armor, you probably don't wanna get into it with him), try and squad up, don't sprint everywhere, and definitely read the forums, there is a bunch of knowledge here. |

Yeah, starting out, Snipers are a huge pain. But you can be surprised how easy it is to avoid getting hit if you keep moving. Also, if you're hacking, you can move from side to side (not too much or you'll lose the hack) or duck up and down. You look dumb doing it but you sometimes buy yourself just enough few seconds to finish hacking (before getting killed). |

If you are using a MD: bring hives and flux grenades.
If you want to survive a battle with one: do not try to hide- it is impossible. Stand your ground and shoot, accurately BC MD has very low DPS. It will take around 2.5 seconds for him to kill you, depending on the suit. |
