I had enough time before work to play through the new battle academy.. It was a blast! Especially the after party!

Boy let me tell you after I I came out of that 20minute match i just knew I was destined for greatness what ever New Eden could throw at me I WAS READY!

500k SP in one hand an my starter fits in the other! Here I come!!! WATCH OUT WORLD!

Errrrr.. Wait... I know these guys....

Here we go im dropping in, ill just play it safe run with a squad after all my effective HP is almost as much as some of these guys shields alone!

Oh this is fun almost as fun as the academy !

Whelp, that was fun...... If only I had more time in the academy to at least get some advanced gear....

If I wasn't already invested on my main, you would of lost a player, there is no way in hell I would stay in this game after getting thrown to the sharks having 500k sp...

HTFU, This is New Eden ****, aside..... None of that applies, running around with 500k sp vs Squads of 5-10m sp possibly more...

Dafuq are you doing CCP.. first ambush only.. now domination where you can easily get 400wp in one game....... You may have a skilled, invested shooter that comes in, loves the academy (because hes on an semi even playing field may even see the potential in this game...) may even want to invest some time and money into our community, and you guys are royally screwing it up...

This double XP event is going to be FUUUN! with all these 500k sp players floating around in one days time

CCP should have a system that allows players to stay in academy. However, those said players will not be entitled to the same amount of loot and ISK rewards.

Furthermore, it would be cool if CCP gave players a pop-up message warning them that they have graduated the academy

Said it b4,will say it again,,noobs should get ATLEAST 4-5 mill sp AND a nice amount of isk to buy skill books. Who would WANT to stay with the huge gap in skill between vets and noobs. But we all know it'll never happen bcuz it would take away from booster sales,,,guess their screwed lol

A guy who specializes that 15M SP into a single role will not be (much) better or worse than the guy who put 50M SP into 3 roles.

In this example, skill, luck and framrate/lag will decide who wins or loses. The guy with 50M SP just gets to switch to an AV fit or maybe a vehicle when necessary.

Should be a part of the academy tutorial to inform any newberries that their current soft gelatinous bodies will be broken down and remolded into a hardened, bitter, fighting machine through hours of intensive pub stomping, noob hating, bone crushing lav's, and futile attempts to kill most anything.

So you think that's unbalanced? Eh some will say you got a point but imo it isn't that hard to kill a proto user. I don't own proto gear. Only a standard min scout but I use the advanced basic frame. The rest of my suite is all STD gear from the elite pack and do just fine vs proto. Even while my team doesn't have squads and the other team seems to be nothing but squads using mainly proto gear. I'm just saying you can't nerf skill.

Personally I can deal with it. I've played enough shooters that most of the game is learning the maps and working fairly close to your team. Beyond that SP gives a marginal increase in ability.

From what I gather by some posters though is some people just get torn up.

So I just look for the humor in it either way.

Usually, the players who utterly stomp their opposition in the ground are using skills that aren't in the skill tree; teamwork, communication and strategy.

Agree, but they will face this wall at one point.

Quite clear the "get results" mandate has been thrown down this normally leads to wild changes as teams scramble to find what works. I support this statement by the radio slince and lack of clear direction. By which I mean what are we building towards. More stuff does not count as a direction

Dont get me wrong I appreciate the time it takes for newbies to become a competing force... As have I and many of the people posting in this thread, have put in hard earned money and time into this game and the gear and SP that we have earned to this day...

The point of this thread is to point out how idiotic it was to literally setup a "new player" experience that lasts 30mins... Sure if your a horrible shooter you could spend a few hours in the academy, but thats a whole nother topic...

I personally get frustrated with CCP's decisions about the academy because (besides IWS thinking all us vets just want to proto stomp newberries) the academy and new player experience is whats going to keep Dust alive...

Also I dont think new players should get anything for free imo that wouldn't be the New Eden way... But I agree with a few, SP should be uncapped till 5-6m for new accounts... They shouldn't even have the option of seeing us vets with 15+m SP till the reach 5-6m....

For those who say the SP gap argument will always be there sure it will but not to the extent of competition especially if newberries learn to focus train.. I know thats easier said the done but you'll have your competitive knowledgeable newberries and then you'll have your helmet wearing newberries, not all can be helped...

But if CCP provides them a safe place to grind out for a few months I can guarantee you either type will feel more invested in that character them they do with the current academy setup...

 I don't know...

Everyone was a noob at one point.

When I started in Dust, I didn't knew anything about Eve and had issues with console shooters (never got used at aiming with thumbstick).

I checked out some lore on the net and viewed some videos giving advices on the game.

I also checked all the Tutorials in the Help section of the Neocom (a thing all newbies should do).

Having that said, sure, you'll encounter proto hardcore pro gamers. I jumped into this with both feet knowing all too well that I would die a lot. The thing is, if you're receptive, the harder things comes at you, the greater your learning will be.

Every time I died in this game, I knew where it came from. Either I got sniped, ran over by an LAV, swarmed, shotgunned or just ran blindly into an heavy. When you know why you died, you can work your brain to find a counter or a way to avoid it at best.

To have a fighting chance; you have to know about your enemy, his gear and his tactics. Otherwise, you'll face many grim outcomes.

There are many many many things to learn in Dust on many levels. Everything can't be crammed into the Academy. True and hard experience delivers tons of knowledge to whomever keeps his mind, ears and eyes opened.

Here's an Idea (one simple enough that CCP should be able to implement it quickly) increase WP to graduate academy to 200,000k so new players (at least smart ones can survive) making a better new player experience.
Remeber there is the 2 milion SP still there though.
