they take damage , you just dont notice it because you try to run fo yo dropsuit
i use Limbus wich is armor based and has little shield , if i hit a wall at any speed i lose shield depending of speed then im naked and i lose armor too if i hit anything
its not visual damage unless your LAV is on fire wich means low armor...
