I'm one of the lucky few I guess with little lag (When I do it's because someone's watching NetFlix) and great hit detection and smooth framerates. Then again I make sure my PS3 is not filled to the brim and has extra room on the HD.

Splash Damage hit detection has always been a bit borked in DUST, back when MassDrivers were introduced it was painfully obvious, it used to be a lot worse.

I have no difficulty slaying Sentinels using a sentinel with an HMG, a scout with a shotgun or PLC, or an assault with a Rail Rifle or ACR... Or any suit with a remote explosive. Perhaps you need to rethink how you attempt to slay suits.

Personally I like it and it is one of my favorite APEX suits, as while it is certainly far from optimal, it is more then adequate to trash someone at range if used properly. Just avoid cities imho and go for the open battlefields.
