There's a temporary fix you can do every time you log in. Go to join/create channel menu and enter the name of that channel that's bugged. You should now be able to send and receive messages from it. If you want to leave it, you can now. This only...

Happened to me twice: last week and this week. Skirmish Biomass and ambush on the spiky map. *Edit* Before this build I also was able to spawn randomly near objectives when trying to spawn at a CRU. Only happened to me twice.

They show up under mercenary instead of the corporation tab. Also because of this, there's no entry for start times. To matters worse, after it starts, it disappears from the battle-finder listings.

I can fly them almost just fine. Just keep practicing. Here are some things you can still do plus more: Hover in place
Fly while having you ship tilted verticly for a while
Barrel roll
Fly forward
Fly backward
