maybe a zone control type mode. the map is divided by points A, B, C, etc., and to capture the area you have to stand within the zones boundaries. it would be extremely similar to skirmish, but there would be much more focus on defense instead of...

Use railgun turrets, they kill most tanks in 3 shots (and derpships/LAVS in 2). Of course, if they have hardeners active you're SOL.
