I'm not sure if I had comms or not. I don't use a mic but I leave my mic open. SInce I was able to open the map I could access my neocom as well.

I find that setting the temperature for your AC 5 to 10 degrees cooler helps loads. Apparently a colder room cools a ps3 more effectively.

If a dev could comment on how the matchmaking system arranges the matches it would be awesome! I assume these 8 v 11 matches are because of the 8's ranking or skill points, but I'm sure there are other factors that are taken in.
